Re: Haflinger Rear Axle

Garry, According to the parts manual, there is only one version of the front and rear differentials respectively. All used a pair of connecting blocks ("stones" P/N: 501.1.3474). One could certainly modify the original design by replacing the square blocks with either a slip-on collar/bush...

Re: Do we have a Haflinger map for USA owners here? Events?

As far as Haflinger gatherings in the western hemisphere go, the only one of which I am currently aware is Haflingertreffen Nordamerika. The first three were held in various locations in northern California with the fourth in Leavenworth, WA, the fifth in northwest Oregon and the 2015 event back in ...

Re: Parts availability in the US

The inventory of Scott's used Haflinger parts did make their way to our farm in Oregon. There were no NOS parts in what we hauled North. I am not sure what Scott currently has in stock as far as Pertronix ignitions. I source my gaskets from either Haflinger Technik in Scotland or Robert Prokschi in ...

Re: Considering buying a basket case I found

It appears there is a stripped Haflinger engine block located just in front of the tire in the back of the truck on the right side. one can see the four long cylinder/head studs projecting out over the right sideboard. You can also make out the offset loop of the oil dipstick. Behind the driver's se...

Haflingertreffen Nordamerika 2014

Hello to all, After careful consideration and seeing the time slip rapidly away, the location for the Haflingertreffen Nordamerika 2014 is going to be shifted a bit inland as well as north this year. The Newport area is beautiful with plenty to see and do but the lodging situation is not very conduc...

Re: Oil filter seal

Shawn, My cross-references for the cartridge-type Haflinger oil filters are as follows: Mann H 601 Mahle OX 42 NAPA Gold 1314 Of the three, only the NAPA filter comes equipped with the large flat O-ring you are trying to source. Hope this helps. Take care. Jim Molloy Waldersee Farm http://www.northw...

Re: Haflinger Distributor Maps

Garry, I have only seen one Hafligner distributor map and that is labeled as Fig. 8/III in the factory repair manual. It is for Bosch distributor VJU 2 BR. If you do not have the manual available, the critical points on the graph are as follows: RPM Advance in degrees 0 0 850 0 1000 9.0 1050 10.5 15...

Re: Custom cylinders and pistons

Jim,
Do you know if Scott ever used the other set? If so, what was the end result? How did the Pinzgauer versions perform?
Thanks for the information.
Take care.

Custom cylinders and pistons

Does anyone have any personal experience with these? http://www.lnengineering.com/custom.html I know Scott Ingham had a pair for sale several years ago. I am also aware that Raceway Services was opting to use aluminum Porsche cylinders over VW units on the Haflinger engines they are currently buildi...

Re: 6x6 Haflinger

The "prototype" truck had been up for sale on eBay a few years back. If memory serves me correctly, the reserve was in excess of $20KUSD. Several eBay listings failed to meet reserve. I believe the truck was last located somewhere in Ohio. Unique features include the middle wheels with ste...

Re: Haflingers in Nevada

Greg, While I still have issues with one DMV official declaring that our two Haflinger Polycab trucks are ATVs and should not be licensed for use on the street, Oregon DMV has put together a very useful tool relating to vehicle manufacturers. Perhaps Nevada has something similar. http://www.oregon.g...

Re: BMW motorcycle engine?!?

Frik,
Can your provide some photos of the conversion? How did you solve the starter/flyweel with ring gear issue as it mates with the standard transaxle bellhousing?
Take care.

Re: If I buy a Hafflinger, what am I getting myself into?

Dave, Only one "F" in Haflinger. A Haflinger will likely be just as hot in the summer as your Pingauer unless your Pinz is the enclosed K model rather than than more open M model. To get a feel for some prices, you might look at Scott Ingham's Expedition Imports site. As of last night, he ...

Re: If I buy a Hafflinger, what am I getting myself into?

Texas Pinzgauer, What are you getting yourself into if you purchase a Haflinger? Short answer: A great deal of fun! Not nearly as mechanically complex as the Pinzgauer but still engineered to an extremely high standard. Some of the Pinzgauer parts sources will also sell Haflinger parts but there are...
