Re: Thoughts on 12V on a TGB
Thanks! This all sounds great. Any issue having the connection between the 24v to 12v charger run on a 24v relay that is only active when ignition power is on? if what you're suggesting is a disconnect relay between the 24->12V charger and the 12V battery so when ship's power is off there's no conn...

Re: Thoughts on 12V on a TGB
This is similar to my approach, and for all the same reasons. A "12V" lithium from the same mfg as rmel listed, and I used a solar charge controller to do the downconversion from ship's 24V. Using a separate battery like this ensures when you run your 12V accessories that you don't dischar...

Re: Improve front seat mounting
The little pins that engage the passenger front seat mounting points are broken off my frame. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to improve the front mounting of the seat frame? Looking for ideas that might be better than just welding new pins on the frame. What do you have against the pin system? T...

It's pretty much the same tool that came with my motorcycle.

Re: CA Residents - CARB Rules Have Changed Again.....
AB220 has been drafted, exempting vehicles pre-1983 from SMOG testing requirements. Anyone have a learned opinion on if it might affect Pinzgauer licensing in the state, keeping in mind the up-thread discussion on how a Pinz is different than a Ford/Chevy? Video about the bill here: https://www.yout...

Re: fuel pump issue
Are those pumps nicely sealed against water/dust/dirt ingress so it's not a concern to mount them more in the Gunk Zone?

Re: fuel pump issue
If your truck takes a long time (>15s) to start after sitting for a couple weeks, then I'd replace the top section of the pump so as to get new valves.
If your truck starts okay (<6s) after sitting a couple weeks, I'd follow that excellent JB Weld advice.

Re: That alternating harmonic of the drivetrain
Thanks, J. I think what you said is well-understood by most Pinz Peeps. A simple drive at highway speed illustrates the amount of gear noise and how it couples into the body. My question isn't about that. My question is about an oscillating harmonic, and trying to understand if they all exhibit this...

Re: That alternating harmonic of the drivetrain
<since this thread seems similar> I'm experiencing this in my 710K. At highway speed (62MPH), there is a vibration that comes in and out about every 1.5-2 seconds. I can feel it in my feet more than I can hear it, but I did try to make a recording with a Pixel 2 phone and look at the spectrogram. Th...

Re: PinzFDS now available
Now after three weeks of sitting unstarted, the truck started in about four seconds. Replacing the upper section of the fuel pump resolved the issue of long cranking time (>18s) after sitting idle. If you're having this issue on your truck, swapping out the of the fuel up is an easy low-risk fix.

Do you not think it's a nice homage to the old Broncos, like the FJC is to the old FJ?

Ambient pressure changes about 1in Hg per 1,000ft. At 8,000ft, ambient pressure would be down about 4PSI.

Re: Bronco?
I know several people putting deposits down for this new Bronco. It looks sharp.
That being said, I'd be hard-pressed to trade my FJC in for one of those. Too much history of reliability with Toyota, and uncertainty about a new Ford model. But time will tell...
