Re: Gas Analyzer....

I want to thank Dennis for his guidance. If you have never used a 5-gas analyzer on your Pinzy...just to see if you set it up right (not for smog) and dialed it in correctly, how cool! My #'s were way perfect for passing smog(if I had to) but what it told me was that by stick'n my nose in the tail p...

Re: Gas Analyzer....

I know I would pass emissions but my concern is that I'm running too lean...?

Gas Analyzer....

Well I got the 5-gas analyzer work'n @ the shop and after I dial'd in the motor this is what I got. I read the workshop manual and it said to try and get 2-4% on the CO. I am @ 1.14% on the CO and 1.30 on the O2 and 100 particles per. I thought rule of thumb was to get the CO/O2 close to one another...

Re: Fuel Solenoids...

I was getting random solenoids(on/off). Found that the blower was hanging-up and popping the breaker...sometimes! It would kill the power to the solenoids without blowing the breaker on occasion. Free'd up the blower and guess what...solenoids work all the time now! I love the "Fix-it" ide...

Hooker (loose) of a T-Box...

Can you over-tighten the t-box cable linkage? I have abit of slop in the input flange of the t-box where the driveshaft bolts on. I took off the shaft to see if I could just tighten up the flange bolt and what i found behind the shaft looks nothing like what I found in the repair books. It's not the...

Re: Fuel Solenoids...

Thanks! Are they for theft prevention or roll-over issues? My 1st thought was to plug them...but I would like to know what they were intended for. Just in case.

Fuel Solenoids...

Anybody ever rebuilt one of these little boogers? They gotta be similar to a fuel injector...maybe?

Re: Sync Carbs

GREAT!!! I thought all of ya'll had figured out how to make a 30+yr old rig not smoke on start-up! Don't get me wrong...I know about quirks on rigs. I was more interested in the sticky choke mechanisms and wondering if this was normal. Thanks for all the input/answers and making me feel like part of...

Re: Sync Carbs

Oh...I read the manual. Only reason I asked the ???'s is that I sync'd the carbs and then adjusted the mixture screws to get the rpms @ the # that I wanted. It idles perfect @ around 900-925RPMS with the carbs sync'd @ 9 and the timing @ 10BTDC and and whines-up super smooth. I am just not sure if i...

Re: Sync Carbs

So what ya'll are saying is that the #'s on the sync meter don't really matter as long as you can get the carbs the same on the meter? Why we're on it...would you sync the carbs 1st and then mess with the mixture screws 2nd in order to get the rpms that you want?

Re: Pop...pop,pop...pop,pop,pop.....

Ya won't believe what I found! The only thing that had been done to this Pinzy before I got it...besides letting it sit for 5yrs was a petronix. Not the whole package...just the ignitor to get rid of the points. It still had all the shielded cap and rest of the ignition. When I bought the rest of th...

Re: Pop...pop,pop...pop,pop,pop.....

The ohms are 3-4 across the terminals which is within measurement I think. Was this measurement taken when cold or after the engine had been run long enough for the problem to present its self? It was taken when cold...good thought. I'll check tomorrow when I get to the shop. The coil I "JUST&...

The super-duper-POOPER one from Scott. Flame thrower I think. The ohms are 3-4 across the terminals which is within measurement I think.

Re: Pop...pop,pop...pop,pop,pop.....

Alright...here it goes. New civilian ignition(wires, cap, rotor, plugs, petronix). Rebuilt carbs and even new thick carb to manifold gaskets, sync'd to 9 w/ idle @ 900-925rpm, timing set @ 10 BTDC, 160 across the board for compression, adjusted valves, fresh oil/filter, fuel lines/filter, air filter, re...
