OEM seat bottom removal and install
I have a better used OEM seat bottom cushion that I want to replace my existing OEM seat bottom cusion with. I can see from the one that's off the PInz that there are small holes in the cushion side flaps that appear to attach to some prong tabs on the underside of the seat frame. Has anyone done th...

Re: Top carburetor gasket too small
Well we dodged the bullet this time. When I told SAV about the small gaskets, they sent me two new ones. The new ones fit perfectly. Although the ones that were good from SAV and the ones in the kit from SAV are reportedly the same gaskets according to SAV, the ones in the kit had shrunk.

Re: Engine Oil Level Too High
Heading back to the Pinz today. I think I'll go ahead and torque to 30 Nm as you've suggested.

Re: Top carburetor gasket too small
I think it might be shrinkage. Most of the ports and holes lined up, but one very small port didn't line up at all.
We do have a hand steamer. Any tricks to that?

I saw that somewhere too, but couldn't find it again. It seems like one choice was brake cleaner?pinzinator wrote:You may want to soak the gaskets for a while so they expand and fit right. Not sure what to use as a liquid. Jim made mention of this one time.

As far as I know they're exactly equal. I'm not with the Pinz now. I'll check with my Brother and see if he found the same problem on both carbs.

Re: Fuel dripping in carb, including after shutoff
Thanks on the different washers. We're using new needle valves from the SAV kit, not the old ones.

Top carburetor gasket too small
We have the SAV small idle screw carburetor repair kits. We found that the top gasket that goes under the cover is too small, all of the holes won't align with all of the ports. SAV said all their gaskets are the same. Do these gaskets need to be soaked in something to expand and fit the ports?

New Hand Throttle Interference with throttle linkage below
We put in a new SAV hand throttle, from the pictures the EI is the same one. After we got it in, we didn't hook it up to the plate below yet, but we pushed down on the gas pedal and the larger brass nipple interfered and the gas pedal wouldn't go down. I asked SAV and they said they put these in suc...

Re: Fuel dripping in carb, including after shutoff
Got the new floats delivered from SAV today. Both new floats and both old floats weighed 1.0 oz on my postal scale that measures to the 0.1 oz accuracy. So our flooding problem must have been something else, maybe a sticking needle valve. Since the good front carb level was +3 mm with one washer, pr...

Re: Engine Oil Level Too High
We'll see how it goes, we can always tighten it and have more new gaskets if needed. We had two concerns. The new OEM pump from SAV was slightly convex, i.e. rocked slightly side to side on the base. We figured that was because the bolt tightening pulls the ears down. The old NAPA pump that the prev...

We did the same 250F for 1 hour on the front carb base bolts, worked well on it too. Great input!

Re: Fuel dripping in carb, including after shutoff
Did you shim the rear needle valve to lower fuel in the bowl yet? Not yet, because the needle valve only had one washer on it, same as the front carb that had a good level reading of +3mm. I do have extra .5 and 1mm shim washers just in case. The culprit rear carb float does feel heavier than the g...
