Re: Fuel Tank Coating
see, and I was thinking the red death was the flaking of a liner of some kind on the inside of the tank, not rust. apparently I am still the pinz n00b. I went looking at the EI site, but didn't easily come across a tank lining product. If anyone has suggestions or a link, I'm all ears. And as usual,...

Fuel Tank Coating
figuring fuel tanks are closer to 'engine' than any other section on the site, I'll post here..... Anybody ever coated their gas tank? I am in the midst of repairing and restoring my truck (more info soon), and will likely need to coat the tank. It was sitting for a good while, and the contents are ...

Re: Speed upgrades?
If the goal is overlanding, why worry about speed? Isn't it also about the journey, not just the destination? You can change the gearing - if you feel like putting in an astonishing amount of money doing a design/build on your own transfer case. Anything can be done with the right amount of money an...

I bet if you got a hold of Tuff River they could do it....www.tuffriverproducts.com I think. but they're starting into the busy season for their rafting work, so it may take a little while.

Re: What was your longest trip in your pinz?
4 grand? somebody's on acid. I have moved two vehicles through Angels Moving Autos. a Jetta from Ohio to Colorado for $800, and a 710 with an M101-like trailer for $1100, from North Carolina to Colorado. When dozens of other companies online wouldn't even respond to an email query, they called me ba...

Re: 24v - 120v Inverter
if you're looking at small motors and such, modified sine or square wave are probably alright. for electronics, a sine wave inverter is way better. I have a 1200 watt inverter on my diesel F350 that I got from invertersrus.com. It's been just fine, handled heavy loads, and is built pretty well. It's...

Converter issue
Alright gang, I have an idea what I'm looking for, but have had no luck in finding one. I think they exist....but no dice so far. What I'm looking for is a 24-12v stepdown converter that will run my stereo and ham radio (I wont run the Yaesu at max power), BUT that has either a small battery for mem...

Re: sourcing LEDs
sorry for the delay guys - here's the website I was looking at: http://www.genright.com/category.aspx?categoryID=60 The products are the LED 3/4" round markers. I think for the application I want, these would be ideal. now to see if I can find them in a 24v version.... I'm all ears if someone h...

I'd have to second the nomination for Andre. He has the skills to weld lexan to a cucumber. Give him an idea of what you want and you'll get a bulletproof version of it showing up on your ride.

sourcing LEDs
Okay gang, I've searched the internet high and low until I think I found the end of it, and am still not having any luck finding the right LED. I'm looking for something about 3/4" diameter, threaded like a bulkhead fitting, in amber. I plan to tie it into the front turn signals eventually, ide...

Re: new type of engine
would be awfully cool....but I'm not sure how we could get it to fit in the pinz.... even if we could get one in the right power rating, with what they describe right now we'd be really low, or way too big/heavy. but who knows where this will go, seems like a unique opportunity!

so I'm debating some options.... And essentially it goes like this - make the 712 a full hardtop (has some merit), or partially hard top (cab....with the rest being soft top). Gotta keep the cab hardtop for reasons that will be divulged later..... First - opinions? Second - anyone done it? I see pic...
