finally got home and got mine installed. Very cool! The only issue I had with mine was not related to the console, but my truck - I needed to bend the retention tab for the front console clip just a little bit, it didn't bind well to it and kept slipping off. Once adjusted it worked fine. I'm pleasa...

texas - I was thinking about the overhead console idea too.... wanted to put something in across the top of the windshield. After the excessive pricing I got from emachineshop.com (almost $1000 for a piece of aluminum with 4 bends....that's before adding the bottom piece) I decided to regroup and co...

This is good info guys, thanks a ton. With so many GPS units on the market, I was really having trouble sifting through them. I started looking at a Lowrance HDS-5 Baja....if I could find a refurb one of those I might pick it up. But the Garmin 276 is also looking good (though the garmin site says i...

I already have a portable, so the walk back out isn't the issue. What I'm looking for is a big screen for good visibility during use. The eTrex screen is a little small for looking at overland.

GPS

Hey gang - I'm planning some projects for my pinz, and one of them is a GPS. With so many on the market, and my relatively limited knowledge of products (I can use one...but selecting them is different), I need a little help. Ideally I'd like something with a fairly good sized display - I like some ...

the new Icon CJ3B (which is insanely priced at $85000) has a unique paint job....it's powder coated  nearly indestructible there...but heaven help you if you ever want to change the color!

Center consoles

I was thinking of putting together a center console of sorts, to go over the engine cover between the seats. There's a few things I plan to put in.... cup holders (!) arm rests (more for the girlfriend than me) some recessed place for the aircraft intercom to sit but beyond that I'm drawing a blank....

Bloody rotten timing....since my pinz was down at your place just a few months back needing a new alternator. I'm interested in watching this - I've been pondering what it would take to put a higher output alternator on the beast, since I think the stocker is 35A? Can almost never have too much juic...

tunnel noise

anyone looked at Tigerfoam or something similar for noise dampening in the tunnel? It's rated for limited flame spread, but I'm not sure how it tolerates radiant heat exposure. anybody?

hey guys - I know it's been a while since this thread was active, but I came across it and wanted to recommend a product. There are two that may be helpful, both from a website called www.b-quiet.com. Here's the install I did on my F350: http://www.b-quiet.com/f350.html I used two rolls of Brown Bre...

anyone know the max amp draw through this? it looks like a great way to rig my 24-12v converter in the truck..... but I plan to run an aircraft intercom and a Yaesu ham radio off it at a minimum. I suspect I'll have to alter the setup for the radio due to its own inherent draw (and run it direct wit...

I have a pinz. The blower in question is on the passenger side. But as Ed pointed out, it probably doesn't much matter.

thanks for the helpful hints gentlemen, I'll dig into it when I get home from work next week.

the blower

hey gang, have an issue with my blower for the heater in the cab. switch brings it on just fine....but it's awfully loud. sorta sounds like it's screeching in the housing. I can't tell if it's a bearing that's gone bad, or something is scraping the inside of the housing or what, and of course I have...

maximal tire sizes

Hello all - First, my apologies - I work out of state, so can't go out and just look at my 710..... hence the reason for my post (not just laziness!). I wont be home for another ten days, so I'm doing some planning before I get there. I need to put tires on, and am looking at options. If anyone coul...
