The case of the weakest link... once the clutch is beefed up, they're going to break something else upstream. The 1.9TDI primarily moved a 3000lb Jette, not the equivalent to a laden 712K. Most all modern ECU controlled engine control the torque to keep drivers from grenading the whole drivetrain.

LOL....I have a set of screw tensioners, binders, bucket of #70 chain and who knows how many different configurations of straps and ends. With a shorter trailer, most all the tensioning must be under the vehicle where the deck and vehicle restricts the swing of the tensioner's arms. Even with tying ...

I used to use #70 3/8" chain and binders, but have moved toward 5000lbs DOT approved ratchet straps. I have 4 new ratchet straps with J hooks on their way here ( should be here today or tomorrow), I can let you know how they're like once I get them. I know for a fact that the quality of the rat...

BTW Russ
It's always better to have a winch and not need it, than going "ah $hit".
My Dodge Ram has one front and rear( primarily to load the trailer), and the Pink Cow is currently having the installation of it's front and rear winches finished (Wiring)

Russ The geometery of pulling forward and down from the front pin will put stress on the front clip..... After watching an idiot tow truck driver putting tension at the pin, both doors popped open. This is less likely on a K because of the hardtop is solidly fastened the top of the windshield frame,...

To add to Russ post: Whereas if you're driving the Pinz, you are aware of all of the indiosyncrasies around you. When flat towing, you have no sense or feel for a portal bearing failure until it is too late, either by the additional drag, or smoke. :? If while out on the trail, something breaks, you...

I'm missing the grommets as well. Wonder how hard they are to find. Not hard at all. http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.php?cat=pinzgauer&partno=7111611381/ Even any automotive body grommet , just slice the center to let it drain. Bryn, I've seen waxoyl applied to the point that it can trap m...

I think they messed on those drain holes. The upper ones are larger than the lower ones. I get rocks falling down in there that are too big to go through the lower hole. I think they should have been made the other way around. Todd you're missing the rubber grommets that are slitted to let water ou...

Those are pics of Austrian 712T(without front rollbar or canvas) with a weapon platform added. A late model, telling from the use of TD tail lamps.MS might have been an early designation code , until SDP refined their own internal codes. all the other letters would be the military own designation, l...
