If the steel hasn't rusted too much and become too thin, it can be welded. I'd give it a try since a new one is about $540 - ouch!

Scooter, Sometimes they are listed as Freightliner seats. Here's some on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Freightliner-Take-Out-Seats_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20afb113caQQitemZ140386571210QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_671wt_1101 If you're interested I still have a set of t...

Paul,
IIRC Patrick was the only source of that particular gauge. Does he possibly have any instructions still available?
All the VDO instructions I have for speedos show 3 leads.

I had this problem Winter 2008-9 when the air filter partially froze up and restricted air flow. Very cold but damp days can make the metal parts of the filter ice over. If the filter is already marginally ready for replacement, it's even more likely to happen.

Just one of many possibilities.

Here's a tan one listed on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Military-HMMWV-H1-Ibis-Tek-tow-bar,-CUCV-M151-M998_W0QQitemZ170439373111QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20100130?IMSfp=TL100130142005r32478 Apparently the earlier model tan ones are not rated as highly as the newer black model. Your idea of a fiber-based tape may work.
I had a similar problem and used a Dremel tool with a metal grinding stone in it to make some new flat areas for the set bolt to seat against. Probably couldn't do this too often without ruining the wiper pivot, which is a pricey little devil

I think that Thilo at Thilo's Ultimate Offroads rebuilds these.

E-Trac mounting

I attached my E-trac to the vertical side panel braces, 2 bolts for each brace with a large square washer to reinforce the brace from the rear. My rear seat belts are primarily for keeping passengers from sliding around on low speed off-road rides. I would probably find stronger anchor points if for...

Hi Sam and Welcome, I bought my 710M from George in 2006 and couldn't be happier with it. George sells quality vehicles and has very competent Pinz mechanics nearby (including Paul U.) who prep the vehicles. Even if you don't intend to do much of the maintenance yourself, plan on getting the repair ...

Pinz pics

More pics will come as soon as it warms up enough around here and I can get it outside. The shop is too tight to get any good photos.

Aftermarket Seats, Part Deux

I recently came across some seats on ebay that looked like a possibility for the Pinz. I've mounted a set and they fit, feel and look great (well, to me anyway). The seats were made by Seats, Inc. of Reedsburg, WI for a government military contract that apparently "went South". The contrac...
