My dad used to have an early 80's ford van that had a pop top. If I remember correctly it was a torsion lift system and should be about the correct size for your project. Again a few phone calls to some auto recycling centers should yeild some good results. You might even be able to find a used one ...

I used my Pinz jack to slide the outer portion of the axle off. This keeps me from having to beat on things with a hammer or buy a factory tool. Since the Pinz is already equiped with the jack nothing to buy. Just keep the pump side down on the jack so the fluid is available for pumping. The problem...

To be fair to the splits, the split joint was still in good shape the the boot in general seemed to be very flexable but you could see where something had hung up on them and just shredded them. I really think the useage has a lot to do with the life expectancy. I managed, not too long ago to put a ...

Ron
This may be a dumb question but how do you regulate the recharge of the single 12v battery. Please keep response in simple terms (very electrically challenged)

Peter I was already envious of you Pinz but the Haflingers really put me over the edge. Phil Tip 1 and 2) have my own business so no problem there Tip 3) Trucks without a doubt especially considering 20+ years with sig other Tip 4) I got involved with wife when I had a Jeep (I was young and dumb) Ti...

My splits only made it 8 months. I found it very easy to put the one piece boots on at the shop. I still think the splits are a very good trail kit item. From the previous post on the split boots it seems to depend on where and what type of wheeling you do.

No doubt I am trying to figure the compromise between adding a

a 6X volvo
or a 710

to the collection, OOOPS almost forgot or keeping the wife.

Mark I have been looking for a place to mount it on the truck. I have seen them mounted on the inside of the rear door but that is really the last place I want to put more weight. I am thinking the place where T-Lo's bumper is meant to have an electric winch would work well. I just need to put down ...

I would be carefull how far you go to save the gas. If you remember the 70's and the fuel shortage and realize our close proximity to the border then you can remember that the gas theives will damage the trucks at all cost to get the fuel out. We had several work trucks that they simply drove screw ...

All the above just lends to the arguement that the way to go with a winch is the hand winches like the Turfor. No need for the mess of adding batteries, chargers or worrying about overheating winch components. A source for a cable puller has been found here in the US. www.offroadrecovery.com carries...

I have the winch bumper from MogsRus (T-Lo's) and really like it. The only thing I wish it had was something similar to what Patrick at Cold War Remarketing has done and put recovery points on the bumper. I use tow straps and shackles but have to secure them to the upper tubes, not real comfortable ...

I have a balancer (works great) but when I am due for tires the rims are going to get the centers cut to the center of the bolt pattern. I have talked to the guy that does my waterjet cutting and he can do this work for less than the cost of the balancer, then I will never have to worry about this l...
