Re: PCV

The Stock B30 as found in the C303 has a vent restriction fitting on the manifold. This is really all you need when you are running carbs. However if you really want you can use Duralast PCV1140DL. It wont hurt anything and is cheap.

Re: Fuel Injection Patton style

Update for an old thread, I installed the Patton parts on my Volvo awhile back and have driven it quite a bit. The system runs well if its tuned well. I ultimately had to do all the programming myself for multiple reasons, but the truck runs great. I still have a few items I will be working on (dail...

Re: Flying Spanners - the 5.1's

I have a brand new set of their gears sitting in my office waiting for me to have a moment to install them. Service from them was great and the gears look to be decent enough quality. I can't tell the origin of manufacture from the machine markings. I will let you know once I can spare a moment to i...

Re: Second radiator behind a flap

You clearly have little idea of my experience. I have over 18years of rover specific alone experience with some of the most heavily modified rovers in the USA. Close to that on Unimogs and a fair amount of time rebuilding airplanes. My application of the electric fan is not opinion, it is functionin...

Re: Second radiator behind a flap

He can argue all he wants but he would be wrong. Mine is holding up well in temps exceeding 95*, in fact it cools far better than the mech fan. A mech fan can fail just as easily in the desert and you are just as screwed. You can easily hide a $20 Volvo fan in the back of the truck for an emergency....

Re: Second radiator behind a flap

You don't need to change your rad or use two fans. You need a proper shroud to go electric only and a decent fan. See my post on electric fans in the modification section. Use the Volvo fan as it is available world wide and can be had for just about free in most places.

Re: C303 Electric fan conversion

Sorry for the late response, yes I am running a converter. But you can run the Volvo fan on the low speed with 24V indefinitely. However that is a lot of cooling power and you will find it hard to stay warm.

Re: C303 Electric fan conversion

Just a quick follow up now that I have my fuel injection completed. The Volvo fan works perfectly. It really only needs the low speed setting, I still have it wired to come on full time at the moment but will be changing over to a PWM fan controller soon. The truck barely breaks 170*F right now and ...

C303 Electric fan conversion

Here is my version of the C303 electric fan. Relatively easy conversion, the Volvo electric fan is one of my favorite for conversions like this and the same one I use on my Unimog1300L. This Volvo fan is found in most 90's model Volvo cars and is easy to pull. The fan moves enough air at low speed t...

Re: Leaning towards the driver's side

Thanks guys, all you input in very much appreciated. Was hoping the shocks were the reason, as that's the cheaper option. Bad high pressure gas charged shocks can cause a lean, but typical gas charged shocks are low pressure and usually won't cause a lean if they loose their charge. Otherwise shock...

Re: Leaning towards the driver's side

Leaf springs can be re-arched. A good old-school spring shop will take your old spring set and rebuild them to match each other. No need to ship rare heavy steel from Europe unless the leaves are rusted beyond use and at that point a little lean should be the least of your concern.

Re: Searching for C303 DOM

The 404.0 spans mostly mid to late 70's. These are the 404 with the round cabs found on the 406/416 including doka models. I am aware of several in California. I'm not sure what was done to get them there without major issue.

Re: Searching for C303 DOM

Unimog 404.1 and 404.0 span from extremely late 50's to late 70's. Both models are gasoline and I know of several young and old in Cali. Regardless, one of the many reasons I don't live in California.

Re: Searching for C303 DOM

You should go speak with another registration office. I suspect you are being given poor information. I could be wrong, but I know a lot of people that have unimogs both older and younger in California. Don't get me wrong, I know Cali can be difficult but I really think you are missing something.
