Moving forward on power steering.

I have had a bit of time lately and started work on the power steering. I have gone through all the steering, suspension and brakes now, which I wanted to do before I change anything. I have the steering box out and apart and have done enough measuring and trial fitting to see that the unit mates up...

Steering tube removal, power steering

I have the steering gearbox/shaft/tube assembley out and am contemplating my next step. I am thinking I want to remove the steering tube. I put the unit in my vice and tried to turn it with a strap wrench but the wrench slipped. Has anybody taken one out and can offer tips? It looks like itis just p...

Re: Pull to left when braking

I test drove today and the pull seems to be gone. Not sure what I did. Maybe something was stuck and me banging around got it working. The only thing that I did besides inspect it and observe the shoes move was adjust the shoes. The brake pedal was higher. I understand the temperature difference is ...

Re: Pull to left when braking

It is new to me. I have only driven it in town. The pull seems proportional to the braking. It is not noticeable under light braking but under hard braking like when somebody pulls out in front of you it takes a lot of attention and effort to maintain control. I pulled the four drums yesterday and e...

Pull to left when braking

My truck pulls to the left when braking, particularly when braking hard. I thought for sure I would find something wrong with one of the front brakes, but all the brakes seem fine. Nothing is loose in the steering or suspension.. Any suggestions?

Re: Gas gauge effected by light switch

It turned out the wire grounding the gauge itself was bad. I ran a better ground to it and everything is hunky dory

Enjoying the Pinzgauer

I have finally moved into my new shop and have a chance to tinker with the Pinzgauer a bit. I was able to chase down the short that kept killing the battery, fix the shifter linkage, fix the horn, repair the exhaust leaks, and get the gas gauge to mostly work. I find it a pleasurable thing to work o...

Gas gauge effected by light switch

My gas gauge was not working so I started tracing it down. I found the power lead was disconnected at the gauge, hooked it up and everything was fine until I turned the lights on. When I did that the gauge pegged on the full end. Fiddled with it a bit and could not make any sense of it. Will look at...

Re: EZ power steering

I have received the unit and it looks pretty nice. At first I thought they shorted me some parts and paper work but found them when I was getting rid of the box. I have a lot of styrofoam peanuts. I have not had a great deal of time and have not figured everything out yet. You have to cut the existi...

Re: PTO

Another interesting tip. I contacted some fellows in Austria that claim they are "successor organization of the Steyr-Daimler-Puch customer service department". I asked them about the PTO and here is their reply: Hello Yes you are right the PTO is mounted on the gearbox This PTO was instal...
