Some roof dimensions, please?

Next time one of you 303 owners are near your truck with a tape measure, can you please take a couple measurements? I need the exact length of the rear roof panel as measured from the seam from where it attaches to the cab section, back to where the roof panel attaches to the rear section. (Looks li...

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

Well, my first thought, without actually knowing where the through bolts are that attach the seat to the floor, was to lop off a few inches from the bottom seat frame at the back. Then, the seat back rail would have to be cut at the bottom so it sits on the sheet metal instead of the seat frame. Tha...

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

Yeah, I was reading about Trog at trog.us about how he did a little light tin knocking and was able to gain a few inches of seat slide. That confirms what I saw behind the seat in Hank's 303. It looks like the seat slider sits in a formed trough, the kind they form into sheet metal for strength. Ext...

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

Yup, will do. But part of my problem is the seat needs to go back a little too. I folded the seatback forward and looked behind it. there's plenty of room to slide the seat back further, I just might have to do a little sheet metal banging to do so. Kinda like the guy did on the Trog firetruck build...

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

*Update* WOW! That's what came to mind when I saw it. First, I was just amazed at the stance of this things! The ground clearance is HUGE. The front end, the way it looks, damn thing wants to climb a big hill just sitting there, like the way some sports cars look like they're going 100 sitting still...

Sockets on the front of TGB's?

Just wondering what all the small sockets are for on the front face of the TGB"s.

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

Thanks, guys. It really didn't take much Googling at all after you suggested Jim. He seems to be about my best bet in the area. Good to know he's on my side, AND he seems like a nice guy. On another note, I and the Mrs. are going over to Vermont on Friday to visit with Hank Baer and his wife, a reti...

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

*Update*

I was able to convince Jim LaGuardia from Goatwerks to take a good look at it on the 21st of January!

I believe I am in very good hands.

Thanks, Vince, and thanks Jim.

Re: Transmission slipping out of gear.

Hey Jim,

Thanks, that's about what I thought. At first I thought maybe shift linkage would do this, but not just 2 of 4 gears.

I sent you an email a couple days ago, did you get it?

Re: Maybe found a 303, but.....

Thanks, Vince. If we can't find somebody, which do you think would be better, a Volvo car mechanic from the local dealership, or a mechanic from the nearest Volvo truck center?

Probably the truck mechanic, no?

Maybe found a 303, but.....

It's in San Diego, CA, and I'm in upstate NY. No budget for a plane ride, (still in the hospital right now anywayz!)

I need somebody in San Diego who might know these trucks enough to look at it for me.

Already made a post about it at ExPo. Asked Linus Tremaine, too, but he's almost 500 miles away.

Transmission slipping out of gear.

Hey guys, just a quick question. What would cause a C30* transmission to slip out of 2nd and 3rd gear occasionally?

Thanks!

Re: Howdy, Folks! An introduction.

All GREAT info there, fellers, thanks! I have talked at length with a mechanic friend, and he and I both agree that the C303 would fit both of our needs. Me fixing it, and him teaching me how to fix it! Couple that with the ease of modification of the body, the more familiar drivetrain, and the live...

Re: Howdy, Folks! An introduction.

Wow, thanks Ryan!

I'm thinking springtime maybe. If I can find a TGB 11 by then, maybe we can have some fun.
