Re: Stretching the wheel base?
Rocky Mountain Westie Christoph Gut in Switzerland has built a unique Pinzgauer with extended chassis. He has used the tube extension of a 710 for a 712 https://pinzgauer.ch/assets/0000/4076/DSC015111747-0sw_thumb.jpg?1514499552 additional pics and the stories around can be found at https://pinzgaue...

Re: fuel pump issue
rmel
I don't think heat was the reason; there was snow outside ...
I mounted my pump underneath the air filter support strut in a horizontal position.
Unfortunately I did not take pics.
ChickenPinz
Yes, the pump is fully sealed against dust and water.

Re: fuel pump issue
rmel I decided to switch to an electric pump last winter, when my Pinz was parked for several weeks and I had to crank for some time to start it. Hardi has a webshop, where I followed the specs and selected the 14424.. The pump was delivered within a few days and immediately installed. Now I just ha...

Re: fuel pump issue
My truck had starting issues after being parked for a couple of days. I replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one. My choice was Hardi 18824. Now I hear the pump delivering fuel to the carburators and once the bowls are full, the sound stops and the truck starts on first attempt. The mo...

Re: new Pinzgauer owner to be
don't worry about air cooled engines; they are designed to work at a wide range of temperatures, and your radiator won't leak :-) the disk brakes area definite advantage over the drums, automatic vs. manual shift is a matter of personal preference, but the petrol trucks are usually half the price of...

Re: Another “what it’s like to own”
Thanks Hotzenplatz! What about wheeling a k vs an m. I’ve only wheeled in soft tops to keep weight down low. Do you find or know of any one that says that they are to top heavy for any serious wheeling. Googledave The blunt answer is "it depends", mostly on your definition of wheeling. We...

Re: Another “what it’s like to own”
Googledave A Pinz is an all year vehicle. If you think it might get too hot inside a K-model, look for an M-model and roll up the tarp. yes, the Pinz has a habit of keeping a wheel or two in the air, due to the limited travel of the suspension, but that is compensated by the option to lock all diffs...

All
I do my maintenance based upon the Austrian army Pinzgauer manuaL edition 1998.
They list W940/5 and W940/18 as applicable oil filters.
