710K antenna mount caps?

Anyone found a good solution to cap off the 710K antenna mounts? I've covered mine with tape until I can find/make a plate. It's 140mm diameter, with four 10mm holes 115mm center-to-center across (72.5mm from disc center). Ideally, it'd be a black ABS disc or metal.

710 wiper blade option

I noted that my 710 uses the same wiper blades as the FJ Cruiser (center & right). One decent option is Rain-X 5079272-2 14 inches Wiper Blade. You can change them in a minute. That being said, I don't know if mine's been modified from Swiss Army issue, so I can't say these work on all 710/712 m...

Re: 710 Taillight solutions

Done that conversion on my 710, and slated for the 712. Note LED back-up flood. Link below on another thread. http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10018&start=15 I like that location for backup lights -- round lamps where the existing reflectors are. Makes good sense. ...

710 Taillight solutions

What's the consensus on US-ifying the Swiss taillights on a 710 to make them more consistent with US driver/LEO expectations, and to add backup lights? I've searched the forum, and many of the links are dead. Ideally, I'd like to stay with the original looking round tail lights, but am open to other...

Ah, yes! I have that in the FJ and the 4Runner -- I'll put that on my list.

Re: Adapter plates for 2-1/16" gauges into 60mm holes?

Please post up anything you find out. The blank hole on mine needs to be filled but a tach on the pinz seems, well, pretty unnecessary if you have ears. Anything else interesting/easy to install, maybe some multifunction monitoring, would be of interest to me. A multifunction monitor is my plan -- ...

Re: Adapter plates for 2-1/16" gauges into 60mm holes?

Yes, there were some scattered issues with the VDO tachs. I've installed 4 of them and had problems with one. On that one I switched to shielded wire for the signal wire to the coil and that solved the problem of the jumping/inconsistent readings. I imagine you've seen the SpeedHut gauges (https://...

Re: Adapter plates for 2-1/16" gauges into 60mm holes?

I read a lot of gripes about that VDO tach in the Pinz forums, but it is on my short list. I'm still looking for one that includes an hour meter, but no luck so far in that smaller (2-1/16 or 2-/38) size. Long term: I'm building an engine monitor and may use one of those gauge sites for a round grap...

Adapter plates for 2-1/16" gauges into 60mm holes?

Anyone have a source for adapter plates to allow installation of US standard 2-1/16in gauges into the 60mm holes for the two smaller of the dashboard gauges? Looking to replace the hourmeter with a tachometer. Seem to be plenty of options in 2-1/16in that are 0-5,000 RPM. And yes, I can make them if...

Re: Engine Oil... Again

Anyone running the Castrol high-mileage variant of the 20W-50? I'm already using that in another vehicle, and am wondering if others have direct experience with this option. My fallback is conventional Castrol 20W-50. Here's what they tout about it: - Superior detergency that fights sludge build up ...

Re: Oil pressure drop, 712 Pinz

Hi, Geoff. I'm just ramping up on the Pinz, but have lots of VW and aviation experience to leverage. Given that you have redundant sensor sources (switch & sensor), and they agree, let's assume that the oil pressure you're seeing is real. I'd first look for some type of obstruction in the oil pi...

Re: Impact wrench questions....

I have to agree with some others: an air impact wrench can be a life-saver at times. Removing crankshaft pulley nuts, corroded shock absorber bolts, VW 36mm axle bolts, flywheel bolts....there are many cases where you need the sharp jolts of an impact wrench to remove either corroded fasteners, or o...

Re: Car cover for the Pinzgauer

I've searched a bit, and haven't found a solid option for a 710K cover that's in a tame color, one that isn't bright. Has anyone found a good option? Ideally something in a darker color, or gentle camo. Until then, it's polytarps.... :( I have a light grey one that works well for my 710m bought it ...
