Re: 280GE fuel injection problems REPAIRED!

Update! It seems that the fuel pressure accumulator is a common source of hard starting problems for various older M-B vehicles and replacing mine did the trick, along with replacing the leaking fuel connection lines and old original fuel filter. I think the hard starting was a combination of a bad ...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

I use a cheap ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight and I fill it with Berryman B12 Chemtool carb cleaner when I do carb jets and it works great. I just consider the cheap ones from Harbor Freight to be disposable and I've gone through a couple, but they have always worked well for me as far as car...

Re: 280GE fuel injection problems

Vapor lock has been my thought from the start, but I wanted to see what more experienced folks had to say. I've got a new pressure accumulator ordered and I believe that will fix the problem.

280GE fuel injection problems

Does anyone here have any insight on some fuel injection problems I'm having with my 280GE? When the engine is cold, it starts right up and when it's hot and try to restart it immediately, it starts right up, but when it cools down for a few minutes after shutting down and is still hot, it becomes i...

Re: Take me to jail!

BIOT stands for British Indian Ocean Territory, which is the entire island chain, this is just the main island; trust me, there will be no riots here.

Take me to jail!

This is what the cops drive here on the island of Diego Garcia! The cop that drives it is a young, foxy, blond English gal!

Re: Pinz mirrors, US military issue!

No, it's a genuine Pinz mirror, I touched it. I have dozens of them to look at. Yes the arm is larger diameter, but it necks down right at the clamp. I'll try to upload a pic if I have time before we get underway.

Re: Pinz mirrors, US military issue!

The mirror arm is visible in that pic; it's attached to the front turn signal, but it's swing in and the actual mirror is missing on that particular vehicle in the pic.

Pinz mirrors, US military issue!

The USMC's LAV-25 combat vehicle uses the exact same mirrors and mounting brackets as the Pinz. I didn't remember that the LAV-25 was made by Mowag of Switzerland until I spotted the familiar Pinz mirrors as LAV-25's were loaded aboard my ship as cargo. I have yet to find a LAV-25 mirror from any su...

Re: A G-wagen I had.

What size tires are on that red 280 GE? I currently have BFG/AT 235/75R15 on my 280GE, but want to go bigger and am not sure what would be my upper size limit. I would possibly like to go with a BFG/MT in the smallest size, 32X11.5R15LT, but am afraid that may be too big. Any opinions?

Re: Transmission Access Panel Seal

Maybe cork rubber gasket material from any auto parts store. It's pretty much what I always use for stuff like that.

Denmark is very near the German port of Bremerhaven, one of the largest car shipping ports in Europe.

I remember when SAV had a lot of those for sale, I always wanted one, but that ship has sailed I guess.
