Re: Gauer Garage selling winch bumper... $2,250

I can almost see a small tear falling from Andre's left eye....

Why does it extend several inches beyond the side of the vehicle?

Need a new bottle jack

My original jack needs to be refurb'd, and I'm a bit pressed for time. Has anyone used a US Jack bottle, like this?

Leaving price out the equation.... any comments on quality, height, durability?

Re: rub rails

Did you have them made in tongue/groove sections like the original, or one "long" rail? If you've got a source that wants to make some more, my 710M could certainly use some. Tongue/groove? Please explain Thanks, Sorry, I was out of town for a while and couldn't take this picture: (I assu...

Re: rub rails

My rub rails, although they appear to be one long rail, are actually about 5 sections of wood with a tongue and groove joinery between them. I assume (uh oh!) they were made like this to increase the strength of the rail, instead of one single piece which could warp/crack more easily. I'm not near t...

Re: rub rails

I had rub rails made identical to the OEM. Mahogany with an M6 35 mm hex cap + washer. Got the screws at Ace Hardware. Did you have them made in tongue/groove sections like the original, or one "long" rail? If you've got a source that wants to make some more, my 710M could certainly use s...

Re: Spare Tre Hangar - Reverse wheel position

I assume this allows the spare tire to be mounted "backwards", so the outside of the wheel is actually facing the outside of the vehicle? If so, it's brilliant. I can't easily check tire pressures on my spare b/c of the stock orientation.

Re: Name that oozing substance...

I would *guess* it is the disintegration of your fuel filler hose, due to ethanol in the gas. We see it a lot in the Ferrari world, as these old rubber lines get destroyed by high ethanol content fuels --- especially when service stations switch to summer-blends.

Get it replaced. It is dangerous.

Re: I corrupted another one...

If you locate another one, please let me know. I have been without a speedo for sometime. Even valiant attempts to repair it were to no avail, but not for lack of trying. Sorry, I only have 1. Honestly, the speedo is somewhat unnecessary for clocking the rate of travel in a Pinzgauer! I think its o...

I corrupted another one...

A good friend of mine from the Ferrari world was passing through Winston-Salem a few weeks ago and saw my Pinz 710M in the parking lot of my office. I thought he was joking when he offered to buy it on-the-spot, so I didn't take him seriously. Truth be told, mine isn't for sale! Anyway, I just got a...

Re: Can you help me source an intercom system?

I have a VIC-1 Army system in my 710M. Most of the components are probably from the late 70's. Honestly, it is really too bulky to be used very often. The Milspec couplings have given up the ghost, and the cables are so insanely over shielded that its just a heavy thing to wear. Sure, it looks aweso...

Good news, bad news - soft top 710M

The good news is that rolling the soft-top "in" to protect from standing water makes a massive difference in the appearance of the 710M, and largely eliminated all the flappy ears that I used to have near the rear corners. The bad news is that now all of my plastic windows are 100% cracked...
