I think the thread was about the hard-top kit not the diesel engine conversion!

255 is the width in mm, 85 is the aspect ratio and 16 inch the wheel size so you can't change that without changing wheels. The Mayolas are probably closest to 245/80R16 so 235/85R16 is pretty close. You can also go for 750R16 which are a wee bit smaller. Funny thing is the manual states the alterna...

255/85R16 are significantly larger than the mayola, the 235/85R16 that I have fitted are within a mm or two of the mayolas in every direction

steyr's mini 4x4

Magna Steyr is set to build an off-road version of the Mini, according to Automotive News. Their contract to build BMW's X3 crossover will expire in 2010 and it's anticipated that the plant will then switch to making the Mini.

I agree dot-its are the best, Ikea also does its own (cheaper) version with the same 3m sticky stuff on the back. I have these in the cab and the back.

I remember a while back reading an article that stated the lead in fuel was a cheap antiknock additive and did nothing to lubricate valve seats... I wish I had kept it as the research seemed good science. I have often asked those in the motor trade whether they have ever encountered damage that WAS ...

Been for a wee road run to see how they handle the tarmac. felt really mushy on corners so I've upped the pressure after reading a few of the posts on the subject. Seems radials having softer sidewalls need much higher pressures on the road. I now have them at 44psi (3 Bar) at the front and 40psi on...

New tyre on today, seem fine, a bit more vibration at 50mph, but less above that speed and softer over street bumps. Not been off road or tried a wet greasy roundabout yet....

This is a great question, and really depends on so many things, like where you live, the type of driving you are doing and mostly how much money you have to spend! Air conditioning - not for me but if its really hot where you are I can see the attraction. Power steering - not for me but if you have ...

Those are new wooden rails, I've just had the front section replaced on my 710k and they were painted black just like that.

Tyres are like the vehicle itself, a compromise that will allow reasonable on road performance as well as off road ability. Yes I would agree that the best off road tyres are some of the worst in terms of grip on road. However if a tyre is road legal it has to meet a minimum set of requirements in t...

Well I've bought tyres... 235/85R16 Greenway Machos, they are a cheap retread tyre made here in the UK. They get excellent reviews on the off-road forums here and are even fairly good on road. Not got them on the truck yet as its in for body repairs. Picture of the new tyre next to the old Mayola ht...
