I've owed 3 different Pinzgauers over the last 10 years. My advice to you is to get one now, you will never regret it. I've owned 50 different cars since I was 16, the Pinzgauer ranks in the top 3 for fun and reliability. Parts are easy to get and it's not that difficult to work on. I will own a Pin...

I measured the voltage at the load side screw terminal on the device that feeds into the distributor, while idling, and got 21.4 volts (the engine will stop immediately if you short this screw). The alternator output voltage at the Molex connector was 28.2. Are these the readings one should expect? ...

Here's how I installed an 'Emergency kit' on the back door. The bungee cord keeps the towels from unrolling, thereby preventing the Pinz from ever looking like it has a 100' white tail while going down the road. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad303/rmf1958/DSC06463.jpg The rack holding the plast...

That is the difference between 'lug centric' (Pinz) and 'hub centric'. I have had no balance problems with my Pinz using the hub centric method, but would use an adapter if it was available. The adapter must be precisely machined or it won't work correctly, I assume. I have found that you should han...

Remove the transmission cover in the bed of the truck. On the top of the bell housing you will see a removeable plate held in place by 2-10 mm nuts. Remove that plate. Watch the motion of the clutch rod as someone pushes in the clutch. It will be quite obvious if something is missing or out of place.

Alan, are you saying that a 12 volt Bosch blue coil will work on a 24 volt Pinzgauer as long as the primary resistance is 3 ohms? At which 2 points do you measure the resistance? I always viewed a coil as a high frequency transformer, not much different from the transformers used by utilities, which...

This might be a dumb question, I'll admit it up front. Why wouldn't any regular 24 volt automotive coil work in the Pinzgauer? Put aside physical size and waterproof/dustproof requirements, as long as the resistance readings are close wouldn't it work? I realize that there are heat tolerances that l...

SAV offers a filter that goes into the air cleaner assembly. Here's one that is a drop-in replacement of the entire unit. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad303/rmf1958/DSC06439.jpg The 4-inch rubber opening fits over the carb manifold perfectly. You don't even need to use the straps. Clamp includ...
