Re: Trick To Installing Locker Knob?

What's the black on the locker levers? Interesting observation, I've never paid attention to that before. It looks like someone has put plastic tube or rubber hose over the levers. It does fit perfectly in the body locker slots. Maybe to eliminate side to side movement, I notice the center one will...

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

Did some more testing today. When I noticed the fuel line from the pump to the carbs vibrating so badly during the sputter, I thought maybe the 5 mm new line from the filter to the pump might be too small. My brother tried the specified 7 mm line for that location but it was so loose on the fuel pum...

Re: Cupholder - nice option

I know that this is an old thread, but since it applies to the Pinz I thought I'd post my new cupholders. Main cupholder is a Tuffy product that's attached with velcro to the console cover, painted with SAV Swiss Army spray paint. The plastic ones in the rear came on the Pinz. They're brittle and I'...

Re: Trick To Installing Locker Knob?

Got the new locker knob installed today. I used a small flathead screwdriver inserted alongside the metal insert resting in the knob to push the metal insert together and was able to push it in the smaller hole in the knob just a wee bit. Then tapped it with a hammer lightly holding the shaft, until...

I printed this text on a letter size sheet of paper, put it in a plastic loose leaf protector, and taped it to the side window of my Pinz at the Mesquite Mania car show last January. 1971 STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH PINZGAUER The Pinzgauer is one of the most capable all-terrain vehicles ever made, and came ...

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

Weak stream equal across the carbs, or does one perform fine while one is problematic? That's a good question. It seems like both but we haven't tried to operate with just one (that doesn't seem like a good thing to do though). The accelerator pump nozzle flow is weak - all nozzles, both carbs. Now...

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

Here is the best I could do today on a couple of videos of the bogging down and weak accelerator pump spray without someone else holding the flashlight. Any comments?

Re: Engine Oil Leak on bottom of cylinder head nearest drive

First fire up after the exhaust manifold, gasket and flex kit installation today. All exhaust flanges and studs are clean, but there appears to be oil or gas leaking either on to our out of the same #4 flange and then it runs down the flange and onto the same stud that appeared to be leaking oil bef...

Yes, it's on a bracket welded to a gusset. Better pictures from rear and front.

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

What kind of accelerator pump nozzle flow should we see? Should it be a tumble like we're seeing, or a strong sharp stream or strong spray?

Re: Need Pictues of SAV Flex Kit Exhaust Installed

We finally got to putting in our SAV flex kit this week. We also bought used exhaust manifolds from SAV since our's had been hacked up. My brother did the work with me as the helper. It took one evening grinding the rings off of the new used headers, one evening removing the old headers, and one eve...

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

Do we advance the timing by rotating the disk with the engine off, engine on, or does it matter? The disk spins with the engine, but at half the crank rpms. So if you can adjust the disk when it is spinning at 4-500 rpm you will have my amazement!    Of course you have to...

Re: Successful Carb Rebuild and New OEM Fuel Pump Install

We just need to check to see that there isn't a vacuum leak somewhere. You'd probably have a high idle with any significant intake (vacuum) leaks. So we remove the SSI cap and rotate the disc clockwise until we read another 2 degrees with our timing light on the v-belt pulley mark, correct?. Will w...
