Re: Haflinger Clutch Assembly Attachment inquiry

It is the engine side mount I am trying to sort out. Thanks Dan. As for top speed. I did consider that and decided that 50- 60 kmph range would be fine. I plan to use it for trail use off road primarily. It will likely not get into top gear most days. A compact air cooled engine which requires minim...

Haflinger Clutch Assembly Attachment inquiry

Can anyone help? I am still working on my Haflinger project. I didn't get an engine with mine and couldn't find a reasonable one so I am going with a Subaru/Robin unit. Brand new and warrantied for 5 years. I have an original clutch assembly that will be mounted to the drive shaft. Am I correct that...

Re: Engine Oil Drain Plug Torque Value

The breaker bar is a great idea bu don't just pull. Hit it with a hammer, moderate taps first, hopefully harder won't be necessary. Think of it as a manual impact wrench. A good friend who is a woodworker has his own torque system, "monkey tight, chimp tight, orangutan tight and gorilla tight.&...

Re: Engine Oil Drain Plug Torque Value

With a copper washer the torque should be the same. The washer helps to cog the plug in place. If you have to reuse the washer heat it with a propane torch or even gas stove burner until red hot and then quench it in cold water. This will soften the work hardened copper and allow reuse. In fact it c...

Great directions and photos! Thanks. I'll make one of these soon as part of getting ready for my spring turn-up.

I have a matched pair of 700 cca Motomaster from Can. Tire. They regularly go on sale under $100 each.

Re: New to me Warn 12-C-Industrial Civilian Hummer winch, 12

Hi Dave, I've looked into the possibilities. A 24-12v converter with a 12v charger for the winch battery seems the way to go. I've got 2 large jumper packs that do the trick (chargers built in). They have shut off switches for the high amp, low amp and usb feeds. Takes a minute to hook to the winch ...

GRAVEL TRAVEL, ONTARIO DATES, DON'T MISS!!!!

Straight for the proverbial end of the horse! Just posted 1 hr ago! Book the dates! I did this last year. Great route, people and fun! Re: Considering a nozzle on the fuel tank base

Gas line antifreeze is just methyl hydrate. I will bond with any water and make it combustible and break its cohesion so that it won't plug carb jets or injectors. A large gallon jug will last a very long time. When in doubt dump a pint in your tank. It will even handle the condensation of Canadian ...

Re: Volvo 2 - What not another one

If all else fails you may have to cut the rim so that a nut splitter can be used. Have you tried an induction heater on the nut? I've seen them get a nut red hot in seconds and come right off with impact then.

Good luck! I have an old text that lists rust as a type of welding.

Re: 710M rebuild

Get used to offers to buy it. I average one per outing. Did get 4 one weekend. I've even had people follow me into parking lots to ask questions. After driving the older 6 Vets in the Remembrance Day parade I ended up with 5 of their great-grandchildren filling all the empty seats for the trip back ...
