Re: Vehicles seen whilst on "Nordic Tour"

I'd like to do a trip like that in the Gwagen camper, as long as no one saw me driving it... what a roof. :) Any chance you saw what tires those are on the Volvo's and the size? That 306 is one hell of a mobile apartment (or flat to you). Any int. pics? Great pics all around! I reckon they are Maxx...

Re: Hand Brake issue.

The side bolts are captive nuts, but I'm pretty sure that the rear one you mention, up through the tail cone has a nut on top of it. Awkward to get a spanner onto, but have a feel up there with your hand first, I think you'll find a nut

Re: Hand Brake issue.

I had trouble with my handbrake and was surprised when I dismantled it and oil ran out! I presumed it came from the rear diff pinion oil seal in the cone housing just forward of the brake disc. If you have oil in yours and the brake is binding, it could explain the smoke. Not sure about noise though...

Re: rims and tires

I have a 12 month old Ford Transit Custom (the middle sized van). Mine has 15 inch rims, but I've just tried them on my pinz and they went straight on. Even the wheel nuts are the same thread. Much deeper nut though. Funnily enough, I parked next to a van same as mine last weekend and it had 16 inch...

Re: Pinz Noise - 710M vs an insulated 712MK

To be honest I haven't done anything special and not much different to what McCall above has done. I used a soundproofing in the cab, about 1/2 inch thick of rubber/foam and then put a thin carpet (actually heavy duty coach seat fabric over that. In the back I lined it with soundproofing, but the lo...

Re: Pinzgauer Solid State Ignition Systems

Not to go off topic... Ian - why/how is your Pinz so quiet?? There are parts where you are inside your Pinz filming and you can hear wind noise but your Pinz sounds like a Lexus!?! Must be the SSI! Cheers, Dan Hi Dan, Lots of soundproofing!!! Most of the interior is lined with something or other an...

Re: Pinzgauer Solid State Ignition Systems

Hi Rick, Seeing this post made me realise I never did give you any feedback after fitting your SSI last year. The unit has been working really well without fault. I modified the exhaust at the same time (and have now changed it again) so can't comment of any performance improvements, although to be ...

Re: Import Costs Australia

Hi Mick, I paid nothing like that, more like around 5 grand I think. Local cost were minimal, only a couple of hundred dollars or so. Make sure the engine and chassis number match the paperwork, as that was about the only thing they seemed really bothered about when it got here. With the age of thes...

Re: Import Costs Australia

I brought my Pinzgauer in a couple of years ago. As it was over 30 years old it is excempt from import duty, but I had to pay 10 percent GST (or maybe the other way round?) They base the 10 percent on what they value it at, but as they had nothing to go off they accepted the purchase price I had pai...

Re: Rear wheels locked

I pulled mine apart the other week for similar reasons and it looked just like yours in that photo. I drive through a lot of deep water and mud here in Tassie, so I decided while it was apart to drill and tap a 1/8 BSP plug into that aluminum housing (the one around the discs). I can't see that the ...

Re: Intermittent wiper switch

I've attached a wiring sketch which will hopefully show up below.. Basically I worked out that the new switch will not short the 31 and 31b terminal on the motor when you turn it off which is why they wouldn't park. After a lot of head scratching and experimenting I came up with the double pole rela...

Re: Intermittent wiper switch

Obviously not a popular mod. Just to update, with the addition of a changeover relay and a diode this is now working.

Intermittent wiper switch

Hi all, I'm in the process of fitting an combined wiper control switch that does on/off/intermittent (and wash too), the same as fitted in this recent article http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8311. It's a Cole Hersee 75602-04 However I am trying to wire it to the origin...
