Looks good! I did something very similar but with smaller C channel. I also made each side in 2 pieces for ease of installation. If you haven't already done so, consider putting rubber grommets behind the rail around each fastener. This sets the rail slightly off the body and allows water, etc. to d...

Congrats on your Pinz purchase! There is an outfit about 20 minutes west of Madison, WI with good experience on the Pinz. They rebuilt my carbs, adjusted valves, etc. as well as a general tune-up. I'm very happy with them. Helwig Auto Clinic LLC www.helwigauto.com 3137 State Road 78 Mt Horeb, WI 535...

I'm not sure about the best place but I've always been happy with Swiss Army Vehicles. They carry the shock cord (SAV2500) and the ss crimps (SAV2550). You don't need a special crimper. I use a pair of channel-lock pliers and they work fine. Expedition Imports probably carries these also and they ar...

I made rails similar to Morris' description out of channel iron and used rubber grommets to hold them off the body for some give and to also let water drain out. Made each side in two pieces for easier installation. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t142/pcolette/Pinz%20Side%20Rails/IMG_0112.jpg ht...

Jim's system works very well but can be time consuming if you have a number of them to do. This tool works a little quicker http://mdmetric.com/prod/rivetnuttool/rivetnuttool.htm or if you really have quite a few to do like I did, get the plier-type tool. A little pricey but very fast and it does a ...

I had Doetsch make a set of shocks for me that are specifically for the Pinz. Haven't broken a bolt or a strap. They are at www.doetsch-shocks.com.

Use plenty of PB Blaster or similar (not WD40) on the header studs and nuts before removal and let it soak a couple of hours. Broken studs are a pain - been there, done that! The header rings take a while to grind off smoothly so that the flex tubes will slide on easily. I think you'll really like t...
