Re: Doetsch tech shocks

Hi Ron, Probably not. Keep in mind we sold a LOT of the Doetsch shocks to the Sierra Leonen military for their Pinzgauers and had very good results. Honestly that contract paid for the R/D and testing to make us comfortable with the Doetsch. At this point the market to do the proper testing and veri...

Re: Doetsch tech shocks

Hi Guys, I can answer this one. EI will no longer carry the Doetsch 8132. Quality in relationship to the Steel Bushing diameter hit a major stumbling block between EI and the manufacturer. So much of a stumbling block when they told us our customers were being picky and the bolts were a close tolera...

Re: Contacting Expedition Imports

Our Sept. Parts trip consisted primarily of Unimog parts. We loaded out 47 tons and subsequently unloaded them yesterday in Vallejo. There were some other parts mixed in (New GE230 Canvas Tops, ex) but in general it was Unimog parts. Last year it was a batch of Swiss Military Pinz parts. Surplus par...

Hi hackcampbell, As I mentioned it is a judgement call and there are times when we get it wrong. We appreciate the dialogue and I assure you if you ever get the chance to meet me you will understand that I do enjoy debate and discussion that will make us better. You will also learn quickly that I do...

Re: Contacting Expedition Imports

Hi Guys, Not all inquiries will be returned. Just the world we live in. Unfortunately in the last 5-7 years it appears that OUR RESPONSIBILITY is to teach a customer how to be a master mechanic. Or how to read a website. Or to provide the verbal information for a repair because they are not willing ...

Re: 25% tariff on imported collector vehicles & parts...?

Sonarman, you are missing the process of how this works. Did Tariffs on steel/aluminum go thru the legislature? (no) We are not dealing with proposed laws. We are dealing with a Proclamation. Here is how it works. An "investigation" is done. After that investigation a PROCLAMATION is made ...

Re: 25% tariff on imported collector vehicles & parts...?

Article is Legit in that there is an open investigation THAT NEEDS US TO COMMENT!. Whether or not you believe it is simply a negotiating tactic of this administration or not does not really matter. As of yesterday there was only 13 total comments in regards to this. Today 145. We need thousands. It ...

Re: Low power at wheels

If you are in the LA area would suggest you contact Jim at Goatwerks and have him look at the situation. Don't know if he does house calls but if you want your truck up and running and a general look over there is no one better in Southern California. Very knowledgeable and reasonable. Your problem ...

Re: Engine conversion

That G 4x4 Squared is something. What you can do with over 400HP, 7 speed transmission, 37" tires and more money that you know what to do with. With all that they rate it at 130 mph top speed. Lot of talk about their portal axles except what the gearing is. They make for nice drive way art as 9...

Re: Engine conversion

The phone calls of engine conversions come in waves. Usually every 18-26 months and normally after a big car or offroad show with dreams of driving a portal truck at high speed. We just tell people it is $30,000 for the engine conversion on top of the truck. Makes for a short conversation. Best one ...

You caught me. I was just messing with Dave too see if he could still get his wood up. Appears Dave's yard stroking is still up to par. Dave called up wanting a G Wagen but not a Puch because it did not have a diesel. Still having delusions of getting he vehicles CA legal. Dave put down the mushroom...

Re: Engine conversion

Problem is buying a truck with portal axles and trying to make them highwayable. Problem is the definition of highway speed keeps changing. Some people buy highway trucks (pickups) and trying to make them into offroad trucks and others will buy an offroad truck and try to make them highway trucks. A...

Re: Engine conversion

Given the price window on a new European compliant diesel engine I think I am pretty accurate on my assessment of not seeing one on the shores of the US. People are balking at current truck pricing they would choke on the engine price. The new R2.8 from Cummins would seem more practical but I am sur...
