Steering wheel removal

This is probably fairly straightforward but I'd rather ask for help before I need it than after. Any tips or techiniques for removing the old steering wheel and installing the new? I don't have a steering wheel puller but could probably borrow one if needed.

Thanks in advance.

If you can grind off the required raised lands is it ok to then just weld the flex coupling onto the exhause manifold while it is attached to the engine? I had been led to understand that the manifolds are to be removed to do this flex pipe welding? Due to the tight area around the manifold ends it...

Hi Sam,

The flex kit that Jim suggested is great! I installed it about 3 weeks ago and the improvement is fantastic. Part #SAV6894.

Just be very careful when removing the headers as those studs can snap off very easily if they are heavily rusted/corroded. Not fun.

Best,

Cloth covered hoses

I replaced both the upper hose from the filler tube to the air intake and also the lower hose from the filler tube to #4 valve cover with good rubber hose from NAPA. The old ones were worn and pinched like yours and had a rough and "gummy" interior. Probably were more likely to clog that w...

I had the same type of leak in the same place. Had both carbs rebuilt, all gaskets replaced and less than 300 miles later the rear carb is leaking in the same spot. Maybe someone with more experience has some ideas for us. I'd sure like to get rid of the gas smell.

Jake or Dennis,

I would be interested in a ss unit if either of you decide to proceed. I figure it's only a matter of time until I'll need one.

Please keep me/us posted.

Thanks,

Summit Racing sells "Sound Deadener" material in sheets of various sizes and is self-adhesive. It's available from other sources also though the prices were similar. Kind of expensive but it does work.

Hope this helps.

I recently had a similar problem with mine. The engine would stumble or cut out like it was being starved for fuel when there was plenty in the tank. A careful look into the tank thru the filler revealed some sheets of paper, etc. in the tank. I had the tank dropped and drained thru the filler and w...

NAPA Flasher

I installed the NAPA unit (EG23) about a month or so ago and it's been working just fine for me.

Hope this helps.

Exhaust leaks at short tubes and seals

Hi everyone, I've noticed that I have an exhaust leak from both short tubes. They are both loose and their seems to be a lot of play in them. I don't know if this is normal or not but exhaust definitely leaks out and I think that fresh air may be getting in (is this possible?). I've seen that both E...
