balanced drive shaft

I know this has been gone over before. I recently had Tony G. here in AZ service my 710's central tubes driveshaft. He installed a lightened and balanced unit and replaced some of the bushing that were worn. I did not anticipate the drastic change it would make in the truck. Before the work I would ...

I have had one built by a local driveline shop here. The flanges are off of a jeep cherokee and the rest of the shaft is just normal material. The ujoints are now readily available. An initial cost layout but very serviceable/replaceable as needed. They also were able to give me a guarantee on the s...

the pressure brake light switch is just a standard VW part. There are a couple similar one so just take the switch to a local VW shop and they will match it. The switch cost around $5. Yes you will loose brake fluid, but if the caps are tight it will be minimal and the system should be bleed to remo...

most of us here in AZ run the 265/75's. There are a few that run the smaller sizes but really can't tell the difference on the trails. I have never compared fuel economy or top speeds with them. When we convoy it is usually slower than each of us would drive alone and fuel consumption varies so much...

tough to give tire recommendations without knowing how you use it. For all around tires on my 712 I was very happy with the interco Trxxs as long as tire pressure was up around 55psi on the road. I am now running the Mickey Thompson MTZ' which have also been working out well on both my 712 and 710. ...

June trail run

Here is a link to our little trail run we did this past weekend. 8 pinzies and a jeep. Most had a good time except the president (lost another clutch, he can't remember not to disengage when coming down hill) and vice president (fell over while showing off). http://www.swpinzgauer.org/message_board/...

while I am not a big fan of using powder coating as much as some (too difficult to repair) the wheels are a great place for it. The clean up is much easier and retains the color better after being in the elements. I would also consider going black on the rims. Looks good when truck is cleaned up IMH...

six jack stands placed at the axle half couplings. Truck is very solid and you can even remove and clean all the brake components while waiting for tires and rims.

Miles I also have a couple of the hammerheads. One is loaded with GPS program and antenna but the program is old. The setup only tracks 4 satellies so acquiring is tough. If you don't already watch it, there is a yahoo group for the hammerhead and some of the guys do some remarkable things with the ...

Dave If you have not already checked out the H drive system of the Daf you should, it is worth a look. There are more Daf ya 126 and ya 328's in Ca than any other place in the US. They seem to be a movie favorite when depicting European military vehicles. Although their importance is minimal in the ...

Eric This topic comes up once in a while. If I recall there are not many markings put on the pinz when in service. The european militaries don't seem to mark their trucks up like the US. I would think some one on Robi's site would have first hand knowledge of use in the military and could help. As f...
