Not to mention the thin sheet metal isn't very bullet resistant.

Warning: Somewhat off-topic comment...

Wait til national health care works that way. If you think having a pipe stuck up your vehicle's exhaust is rough, wait til something similar is flagged in a national health care database.

The best tools you can get are comfortable seats for a trip with the wife! You know you'll have help if you're within 150 miles of St. Pete (heck probably even further).

Modified sine wave inverters work with most appliances but not everything. I have a remotely controlled fan which started to melt the case when connected to my modified sine wave inverter. I stopped it before it did any damage. The price of a true sine wave inverter is usually significantly higher. ...

In Florida, if the weight of the towed vehicle exceeds 3000 lbs then a brake system is required as well as a break away device. This was the law in Florida when i checked last. The laws vary by state and of course change at the whim of our political representatives. Enforcement, who knows. I do thin...

One other thing, do NOT tow a Pinz on a dolly with the front two wheels up, not that any one suggested this. This won't work as the Pinz axles do not go straight across, they are off set, i.e. the back two wheels are not in a line, one is in front of the other. This is a problem for towing.

In the 710K I will fit, I'm 5'10" and I can situate myself just right to make it work. Any taller and there will be problems. That being said, if the hammock is hung diagonally for one person someone 6' or perhaps more could fit. A 712 has all the length in the world and could perhaps accommoda...

Hammocks in a 710K

For you Erik. I had to hit the Wayback machine for these, Sept. 2002. Here are a few pictures of the hammocks I made up for the back of my 710K. They work ok and when I had the AC unit in the Pinz was the place to be in the summer at night in FL. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i27/rmcintir/Pinz%2...

A few padded cutouts across it and a lock on the top would make it a perfect place to store a few long guns with room for ammo underneath. For that purpose I might make it a little wider but otherwise it looks perfect.

I used a portable AC unit in my Pinz, mostly for camping as I had hammocks hung inside. It worked quite well. It was a Toyotomi and drew a bit less than 400 watts, very efficient. It had a timer so it would shut down if desired. I installed a 2000 watt 24 volt inverter to power it. I never really ca...

Have you thought about mounting additional lights up there yet? Forward, back, side. Looks like you have some great locations for it and you could run the wiring inside the tubing and up from the penetrations you already made through the top.

I use an original Garmin StreetPilot. I have topo maps for the US and they have a lot of accurate forest roads. It is pretty much watertight as some here realize is a plus in Florida. I use an external antenna since I have a 710K but in a soft top the built-in antenna is fine. The thing runs on anyt...
