As requested, photos of the backside. The wire running from one side of the truck to the other is for the side marker lights.

The lights were $202 for the pair including shipping from Oviedo Safety Lighting, http://www.oviedosafetylights.com/ . They don't stock Model 265, but will special order any JW Speaker product. They were quoted a 3-4 week lead time by the manufacturer, but the lights I received were built exactly tw...

LED tail lights

I've never liked the stock tail lights and finally replaced them. The new ones are JW Speaker Model 265 and they have LEDs that are rated for 9V - 30V. They mount flush with two bolts, one of which fit in an existing tail light hole. The plug for the wires required a 1" square cutout. The TD li...

Hagerty is great for classic cars - I used to have them for an old convertible. Not sure they would work so well for a pinzgauer.

I have AAA (Auto Club of SoCal) insurance and they were able to add my pinz, although they had to look it up offline and call me back the next day.

brake light wiring

There are a couple of write ups on how to wire a brake light when installing new tail lights, but I ended up doing it a different way. Expedition Imports has a service bulletin that describes using the pink blackout wire, but I had already used that for a back-up light. Jim LaGuardia posted a descri...

Drain plug seal rings

I ran across an inexpensive source for the 22mm x 27mm x 1.5mm copper washers used on the fill/level/drain plugs. Rocky Mountain European Imports ( http://www.rmeuropean.com/Part-Number/Copper-Washer-%2822-X-27-X-15-mm%29-__22X27X15CU_FIS_FBB4F71F.aspx ) has them for $0.16. With shipping, 100 cost j...

Here's a second vote for Dyna Beads from Innovative Balancing. I have 8 oz of the off road beads in each tire. They are larger than the regular beads and have to be poured in when the tires are mounted. It's fast and easy but you can't add them later like the regular beads.

Sorry, I realize my previous post wasn't the most self explanatory. Ebay changed their policies so the first five items you list a month will cost most people more in final value fees (ebay's piece of the action). To get around it, list five items a month that won't sell, like the auction you spotte...

It's not as strange as it sounds - I've thought about creating the same sort of listing. A few months ago, ebay changed its policies so the first five listings a month have no insertion fee. Naturally, whenever a company changes it's terms and conditions you'd better grab hold of your wallet, and wh...

You might want to get in touch with Michael or Jim at Ramona Motors (http://www.ramonamotors.com/). They are in your neck of the woods and can probably set you up with a Pinzgauer.

I got a leather one off ebay that fits so well you would think it was custom. The stock steering wheel rim was way too skinny for me and $24 with shipping was an inexpensive way to fix it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/U70111-18-INCH-BLACK-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL-COVER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp328...

I picked up a set of 255/85-16 BFG Mud-Terrain KM2s a few weeks ago from onlinetires.com for $156 each. They are in Cerritos, CA, so while they are local for me they aren't for you, but it's a great price even with shipping. Their customer service isn't the best, and I had to wait about a week befor...

SAV is swiss army vehicles in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Web site is http://www.swissarmyvehicles.com/. In addition to selling Unimogs and Pinzgauers, they are a great source for parts.

I used Jim's directions to disassemble the speedometer and found that the worm gear he mentioned was fine, but the problem was that the grey pot metal gear next to the ones digit was loose. You can verify this without removing the speedometer if you turn the trip odometer reset around to zero and th...
