Re: Made a mirror mount with what I had...
I did not use the multiplaz welder thingy on the steel. I just used a hacksaw and a couple of drill bits. The steel cuts easily enough, it has amazing response to heat, however. I think it is actually some type of ceramic-metal hybrid, honestly. When struck, it sounds and feels exactly like glass or...

I got the steel from my SO's father, who worked for General Dynamics Space Systems Division for many years. Its T3 something tungsten alloy something alien s...

Re: Made some new Rub Rails out of Composite PVC
Im also trying to decide if, before I paint them, I should run them through the table saw and put a down-angle on the tops of them to facilitate water drainage. Im not sure it will be that much of an issue, but would love input on this.

Made some new Rub Rails out of Composite PVC
The old oak rails on my volvo were in really sad shape when I got it and have not improved in the time since then... http://images.plurk.com/6YqIVNWJPEnD4HQBkSKa2E.jpg Noticing this, I decided to fabricate some new ones using a more modern material, composite PVC, which is very inexpensive and readi...

Part/Brand suggestions please! Need your help.
In the process of doing some tuning up, wondering if some of you could offer suggestions for a couple things: 1. I have a B30A from a 1975 164 sedan that had only 15,000Km on it when it was put in to replace the original truck engine. Does anyone know what, if any, differences there are in the two e...

Re: Some updates on my C303, Hello from WA
The fan bearings on the universal joint where the shaft connects have about 1/4" of play in them. I am very ready to switch to an electric fan, though I do admit there is a particular audible quality to the rattle when at the right speed, similar to the sound a Panzer tank makes, which is oddly...

Vince, I think I understand what you mean by "sun," though I am not so directly familiar with it here in WA. You can see this bright spot between clouds sometimes that makes rainbows, if thats what you mean.

Re: Some updates on my C303, Hello from WA
I wish I could come to mogfest this year! I've been wanting to attend since we got this thing and will one day. Sadly, until i've done a few things and had a proper mechanic go over it, I don't feel it is ready for any travel beyond the local gas station and back. I'm still making progress, albeit s...

Some updates on my C303, Hello from WA
Been a while, thought I would post some picks of the summer's projects so far. I sold my 97 honda to get $ for working on the volvo, though I still have no garage to put around it and get to the serious work. In the mean time, I redid my canopy and raised the roof on it so I could sand and paint my ...

Re: 1977 Volvo C303 - $30000
Hello all, sorry its been so long since I touched base! I listed it at that price knowing what I was asking for; I honestly do not want to sell it, but its sitting there waiting on me to put a garage around it and do the restoration, which I am unable to do right now. However, if someone comes along...

Sources for replacement stop/tail/turn/backup lights
After a bunch of searching I found some places to get the "hamburger" style rear lights for the Volvo, which have the red/yellow/red stripe style, but updated with LED lights. You can get lots of red, round LED brake lights, but these will keep the original look of the lenses but update to...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)
Thank you for correcting me. I was not even sure what those were because the guy who put the custom dash in this had them covered over with insulation batten and hidden behind the defunct video monitor, I only noticed them when I took that old dash out. *note to self: do not relocate plastic dash bo...
