Re: Stumbling in the rain?
Sorry I didn't follow up on this. I found the issue. So when I got my civ ignition, the black adapter plate has two machined holes in it that stretch past the sealing gasket. No big deal, small dab of gasket in each hole and wipe down with WD-40. Driving from Galveston to Houston in rain showed no i...

Re: OIL-LEAKS: the pinz-bane
Also verify you don't have a rear main seal leak. If your leak is localized to the back of the oil pan, it's possible (though not very likely) oil is leaking from there.

Re: Army 4x4 washed away in Texas flood waters
The military has actually been using the LMTVs here in the Houston area to do rescues. I'm not sure what the situation is in Ft Hood, but that is tragic. No doubt this will serve as a reminder to the locals that water is not anything to joke about. The mantra of the past few months has been 'Turn Ar...

Re: Extended life oil filters
I've ran Amsoil, RP, K&N, and Wix in cars and bikes. Cut open, they are all quality oil filters and will not leave you disappointed. That being said, Wix had all the qualities of the more expensive filters. Occasionally I would see more pleats (more filter media) in a K&N filter, but the dif...

Re: Stumbling in the rain?
Sorry, it's a civ ignition. I ohm'd all the wires and they were all very low. 2-6ohm range. So between the cap and plug everything appears good. I'm hoping the distributor cap will hold more secrets. I'm out of town for the long weekend but will be ripping it apart once I get back. I was convinced i...

Re: Stumbling in the rain?
The cap and wires are all dry. I did not remove it to check the inside. But it idles good and runs at high RPM without issue. Intuition tells me that if it's throttle dependent, it shouldn't be ignition related. So if I stab the gas at idle, it will stumble and nearly the exact same RPM as it was id...

Stumbling in the rain?
So my Pinzgauer has now had this issue twice. Far more pronounced the second time. So I'm in Houston and we are getting hammered with rain. The first time I went out in rain, she fired RIGHT up. Idled great, ran awesome. I forded about 18", still no problem. This is all low speed. Continued dri...

Re: Wiper motor upgraded to 2 speed with delay and push to w
I'm running an AM motor as well. It's a two speed, but I have it wired to work with the factory switch on high only. It's not that fast. The motor itself is a nice unit. I have it clocked a few degrees so that I can still easily see my heater controller. The clocking looks a bit oddball, but I am ab...

Re: Theft-proofing a 710 ???
If it offers you any comfort, my wifes Trailblazer SS was stolen from the 6th floor of our guarded, gated apartment complex... Yeah, fishy right? It gets worse... We have video of security opening the gate for the thieves as they left and then they played dumb when asked about it. Naturally, no just...

Scott took mine off when he shipped it. He said they get beat up, it's cheap insurance to just remove it.

I'd like to see how clear it is once you get it printed. If it looks nice, I will bite on one.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?
You might want to just throw in a new unit. There is a VW unit available at NAPA.
Before you do that, try cranking with the fuel line going in to a bucket. Make sure it's moving fuel. If you want to be even more thorough, hook it up to a fuel pressure gauge.
Sounds like a fuel pump though.

Re: Scott at Expedition Imports
Let me just add to the Scott bandwagon... 100+ emails, multiple phone calls, and over 6 months of getting a deposit put down, working with the bank, getting the truck from Austria, fighting with the DMV, and getting a handful of last minute parts once I got the truck as well as over-the-phone diagno...
