I just read on another thread in this forum that you had decided against the C306. I am not sure if this answer is even necessary at this point. I think it best that someone with experince in driving a military C306 relate to you what they have experinced. You might want to contact Dennis Williams w...

If you just purchased George V.'s C306 firetruck, it will indeed do 60+ mph. This truck has intermediate speed axles so it is faster then the military TGB13 but not as fast as the C303/TGB11. Very solid truck! Jim Molloy Waldersee Farm Sheridan, Oregon http://www.northwestmogfest.com http://www.volv...

Custom fuel filler
Vince, I have spoken with Scott who recently sold one of the trucks you had so meticulously refurbished. Excellent work! He shared with me a variety of photos including several of the side mounted fuel filler system. I would like to perform the same conversion but driving/shipping my truck from the ...

Angus, Converting to LPG will not imrove your mileage but should reduce the cost of operation. Converting to diesel will improve mileage but one must be careful to use a diesel engine that has similar operating rpm range to the B30A engine. Much has been said about the cost of diesel conversion. My ...

Dennis,
What other parts are you salvaging off the rust bucket and are willing to sell before it goes to the crusher?

Cole,
The 164E intake and exhaust manifolds both fit inside the engine compartment of the C303. You will need to do some custom exhaust work to get it all to mate with the standard mufflers but it will go.

Cole,
I have not made the switch to LPG yet. That will likely come after NWMF05. I would explore the timing issue again.

Dennis, Nice to hear from you. I knew you were working on that truck for Red Robin. I still hold out hope I can convince my boss to utilize my TGB11 fire truck as a rolling bill board as well. Photos of the Red Robin truck just may do the trick. Any chance you may be able to make it out to Oregon fo...

Cole, I had very similar problems. From the first day of ownership, I had a bit of knock on long uphill climbs in the mountain passes. I tried timing changes that seemed to help a little. Tried lead substitutes and octane boosters with some help...temporarily. Even tried replacement distributor. Thi...

Cole, I have the same 146E intake manifold as well as the matching exhaust manifold. My plan was to use these as a basis for LPG conversion. I converted my 1963 Unimog 404 firetruck to run on LPG only. Now, I plan to convert my TGB11 to dual fuel using the original manifold and carbs. Jim Molloy Wal...

Great photos! Do you have a website where the photos can be viewed in greater detail? I purchased a 1976 TGB11 former firetruck with the intent of using it as a moblie billboard for our Urgent Care facilities. The truck gets driven across the state of Oregon on a weekly basis. I have yet to be able ...

Cole, Has the latest issue of Off Road Adventures Magazine been released yet? I am not familiar with this magazine. Where do you find it? Hope you can make it to Northwest MogFest 05 this year. We hope for a large showing of Volvos. Take care. Jim Molloy Waldersee Farm http://www.northwestmogfest.co...
