Jon check for either a vacuum leak and also make sure the carb base has not loosened up. This is a common problem and would cause your backfiring. Seeing this is making me want to try a fabrication myself, I am wondering how much weight savings I can achieve using aluminum as opposed to steel?

My vacations last for a week two at most..what you are proposing is like a month long..those kind of excursions will have to wait till I am unemcumbered by the need to work...but I wish I could go..sounds awesome..I will talk to you when we see one another. Dwayne and I need a day to unwind.
