Re: Breathers for gear boxes, '72 710M
I read somewhere that the transfer case is vented into the rear differential. I also read that on some later units the portal boxes are vented through the axles into the differentials. It is hard for me to see how a gear box could be unvented. There would be too much pressure across the seals with t...

Breathers for gear boxes, '72 710M
I want to make sure my vents are good and high for my various gear boxes as I am thinking about a trip next summer with deep water crossings, say 30" or 40". My unit does not have breather units on the diff housings so I am thinking about adding those. I believe there is one on top of the ...

Has anybody tried the Tear-Aid A or B on the top
I have pin holes in my OEM canvas top. I used "Tear Aid" products to patch other stuff with good success. They make one for vinyl and one for everything else. Does anybody know which one to use on the top?

John,
Thanks for all the info on the Haflinger. I know next nothing about them but want one. Sounds like it will definitely be one for trailering.i had Dodge Power Wagons so I consider the Pinz a speed demon, but it sounds like baby brother is slow.

Not sure how it got this way, but my iPad and PC have different user names. Just noticed it myself.

Re: Looking for 712 or maybe halfy
I saw this 710 when. I was in Salida a while back, but already have a 710. I did not drive it or really do an inspection but it looked nice. But in any case I have a 710.and want something different. I can leave whatever in Salida and get it later with my trailer, but do not want to have to work on ...

Re: piece axle boot attaches onto
I have it apart now and it cleaned up pretty well. It looks like the bellows is to keep the dirt off of the real seal and the real seal seems to be OK. The metal strap that keeps the wheel from dropping too far has recently failed on this corner. I think when it did the axle went a bit to far and th...

piece axle boot attaches onto
The sheet metal ring the axle boot attaches to has pulled away from the front diff housing on my 710. When I look at the parts book it looks like the part that pulled away is only a portion of the part you can buy. Both parts are sheet metal and cylindrical. It looks like the part that pulled away i...

I cleaned everything I could get to without pulling the actual seal. So far no problems.

clutch life left?
Is there a way to measure how much life I have left in my clutch plate? without taking everything apart? I have hazy recollections of looking at how far the slave cylinder came out in British sports cars with hydraulic clutches.

Re: Going to Sedona w/ Pinzgauer
That would be awesome.
There is a company that rents Jeeps in Sedona called Barlow Jeep. They list some trails on their website:Soldier Pass, Broken Arrow, Outlaw Trail, Van Deren Cabin Trail, Cliffhanger, and Diamondback Gulch/Greasy Spoon.
Where is SWPA based?

Going to Sedona w/ Pinzgauer
I am going to Sedona, AZ November 7 to 14 and will be bringing my 710M. After Sedona, I will be going north to Flagstaff and then east on I40 and not be in too much of a hurry. I was wondering if there are other Pinzgauer owners in the area who could show me the local trails. Trail recommendations w...

Re: how do i oil the choke cable?
Mine was real stiff and I pulled it out of the housing, squirted wd 40 through, put some grease on the cable and pushed it back through. You have to staighten all the exposed kinks out before you pull it out and make it very straight when you put it back in
