Re: Rear wheels locked

When it was towed onto the flat bed, the front wheels turned but the rears didn't - the handbrake is lousy at the best of times, I don't know how it could remain engaged whilst both rear tyres were dragged over concrete

Re: Rear wheels locked

By "dog" you mean the bit that engages front wheel drive? How can I manually free this if it's engaged?

Re: Rear wheels locked

So the wheels would still turn with the brake on? I know it acts on the driveshaft. I have tried smacking it - I might have to give it another go or look at dismantling

Re: Rear wheels locked

Sorry to drag up an old thread but with the rear end jacked up, the wheels turn freely (in opposite directions, as you'd expect with a diff) but won't turn together - does this mean the centre diff is locked? Would disconnecting the cardan shaft help me push the Pinz into the bay in my barn where it...

Pinzgauer in space!

OK, from space (and actually probably from an aerial photo) but Google Earth has updated their coverage over my old house and there is the unmistakeable roof of my 710K!

Re: Hey! I've got leaks too!

I'll try that, not that I need brakes at the moment as it's not moveable

Re: Hey! I've got leaks too!

Doesn't do a very good job of keeping it off the brakes. Think the pads are ruined.

Getting the hex bolts undone is going to be fun...

Hey! I've got leaks too!

Pretty sure whatever is leaking is coming out of a drain hole behind the front wheel (passenger side). I've got no sense of smell so can't identify it but is there anywhere else it could be leaking from before I take the whole damn axle apart? http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk76/richardspandit/P...

Re: Float level gauge dimensions final appeal

I know, but if the height of the valve could be altered by means of a screw that would aid things

Re: Float level gauge dimensions final appeal

It's a shame that the levels can't be adjusted without taking the top off - wouldn't be difficult to fit a screw somewhere for a competent engineer?

Re: Float level gauge dimensions final appeal

Glad to help. Should have measured that dimension when I had the original tool. In reality, you could stick a scale on the side and just make sure both carbs are at the same level.

Re: Float level gauge dimensions final appeal

Ah, just realised you've edited my original drawing. The thickness of the metal was about 1mm - just take that off the vertical dimension, therefore 26.27mm - I think you'd be hard pushed to set the levels that accurately anyway

Re: Rear wheels locked

Might have to dismantle the handbrake. Pretty sure I hadn't left it on but you could be right, thanks. I'll give it a try
