Re: Connecting rod length
The Rod to Stroke length ratio has a significant effect on piston acceleration and peak piston speed. How quickly fuel/air mixture can be delivered is important for high piston acceleration conditions. See this article http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine_technology/piston_motion_basics.htm for a pr...

Re: Top secret diesel tank
Didn't think it got that cold in Texas to need a diesel heater ~ On December 18, 1983 the temperature in Dallas went below freezing and stayed that way until December 30th. - 295 hours. Pipes froze all over the metroplex and ice dams formed in the gutters 2-3 ft. wide and hundreds of feet long. Ft....
Re: Pinzi SSI
With this auxiliary 12v alternator, don't you also need a separate 12v battery to go with it? If you try and connect it to one of the batteries in the 24v series string, that battery will always be at a different charge level than the other. Without the extra battery you couldn't start the vehicle d...

Re: rims and tires
Ian, have you noticed any change in steering behavior with the different offset? Is bump steer is increased over the stock wheels?

There is a procedure for adjustment. This is the reverse lock-out stop pin/tab.
Anyway, here is the procedure for adjustment.

The steel cab roof on Andre's truck is now on my truck. He stopped by yesterday on his way home to deliver it. Once I get it painted it will be on for good.

Re: Dyno dreaming
If you made an adapter that fits the hub, the pump could be prevented from rotating using a long (4 ft. or so) reaction bar that rests on the ground ahead of the hub. Tie the bar to the ground or somehow restrain it so that if you ever went into reverse the bar would not swing rapidly like a giant h...

Re: Brake Booster Vacuum Query
I need to get out a mirror and inspect my booster. I was using the "eyes" in the end of my fingers and didn't feel any grommet in the housing. I pushed and pulled on the hose to see if the nipple would wobble around, and it didn't. My truck is a '79 - no idea what differences there are in ...

An Austrian 712M that was on the Dorotheum Auction site went for $19000 USD. Currently there is a very nice 712M on ebay with 3 days to go. http://www.ebay.com/itm/221897129113?forcerRptr=true&item=221897129113&viewitem= . It is also listed in the Classifieds forum: http://real4x4forums.com/...

Re: Brake Booster Vacuum Query
On my truck the booster has a nipple that appears to be a part of the housing. The check valve is inline. The parts are detailed in group 08-01. If you have an open hole it may be a booster housing that was replaced at some time. Many check valves can be found that fit into the housing with a rubber...
