Re: Carb synchronizer

The symptom you describe is most likely caused because the throttle plates are not correctly aligned with the throttle bores. Loosen both plates enough so that they will move. Turn the throttle shaft until both plates find their correct location (self center) and then tighten the two screws for each...

Re: Windshield down driving adventures or how to break a win

Sounds like hitting heavy brush (or a tree) would overpower any sort of bracket. Fortunately, is sounds like you saved the windshield frame ($850).

Just my opinion... If the windshield is up and you don't have the need for speed, you can usually see obstacles before they damage you.

Re: Another great reason to drive an older 4x4

Besides my '79 710, I own an '06 Dodge Cummins and a 2014 Subaru Outback. None of them has any internet connectivity or fancy audio. Who needs the distraction? But I'm 61 and an old fogey (a happy one) by some estimations :) fo·gey ˈfōɡē/ noun a person, typically an old one, who is considered to be ...

Re: 24V Horn

Have you looked on ebay? "24V horn -air" is one search term that returns many options. The loud horns draw quite a bit of current. You might want to add a relay so that the horn button contacts don't weld themselves shut.

Re: Would you rent your pinzgauer?

No, just as they can't rent my guns or my wife. I can introduce them to businesses who will sell them either a Pinz or a gun. Wives are another matter :)

You might find what you need at BelMetric.com. They have been prompt and their prices seem good. Here is a link:

Re: intermittant miss

I would continue to check all the connections between the alternator and the battery. The 1.1 volt drop you measured amounts to about 38 watts of heat (at full alternator output = 35A) that is going somewhere, possibly another connection (at starter, battery terminals, disconnect switch, chassis gro...

Anyone have a failed 4500 RPM module?

Does anyone have a failed 4500 RPM module they are willing to send me so I can dissect it and figure out how it works? Black boxes drive me nuts. Something that hasn't let smoke out of the box would be nice. Hopefully these modules are not fully potted. I will draw up and post a schematic. I can sen...

My AAA agent got me set up with Progressive last year when I bought my 710M. AAA wouldn't touch it themselves.

My agent for AAA is Mark Field in Prescott. His number is 928-541-8637.

Re: How does the starter switch circuit work + more question

The switch body is crimped to the base, so it can't be disassembled. Getting contact cleaner into the switch would be difficult because it is sealed from moisture. Here's a wild guess as to what is going on with the ignition switch and starter button. It may be way off since I haven't examined an ig...
