Re: Fast Idle - Help!

Update: The problem kept getting worse. I replaced all the vacuum lines, including he intake manifold balancing hose (thanks rmel & pcolette), installed a PinzSSI, and had the carbs rebuilt (thanks Goatwerks!). I just finished installing the carbs, and it now runs like a top! Starts easily, has ...

Re: Tools for spark plugs

Can anyone post the size/mm of the spark plug and wire connector? None of the books seem to list it and I am not near the truck. 13/16 plug? Wire connector = mm? 2. The 13/16 plug wrench substitute is Briggs & Stratton Spark Plug Wrench 5402H that is a bit long but works just ok, better when yo...

Re: Fast Idle - Help!

So all I did was twist the vacuum hose at the port and distributor, and it's idling nice and low now. I don't see any cracks, so not sure why it worked. Is it safe to assume that installing the PinzSSI I have on the shelf will likely negate this problem, as I will be plugging the vacuum port? (assum...

Fast Idle - FIXED!

Hey folks, I have a '72 710M, pretty low miles and in pretty good shape. Over the last couple months, it's started idling somewhat fast. Not fast enough that I'm worried the engine will blow, but not right. I can usually tap the accelerator and the idle will lower, but sometimes not all the way. Tha...

Re: New 710M owner in Dallas, TX

I was high bidder on that 710 (eBay), but didn’t hit reserve. I’ve dealt with Andre some in the past, and am certain you got a quality rig - congrats!! I really like your paint scheme. I sold my 710M a few years ago, and regretted it ever since. Assuming things go as planned, I’ll take delivery of m...

Re: 1973 710M

It's gone. I drove her up onto the transport truck today (the driver was scared for some reason). Sad to see her go, have serious seller's remorse, but she's going to a good home in Washington, and the new owner is excited. Thanks for the help over the last few years, hopefully I'll be back.

It's looking like this is sold to a gent in Washington, once the details are sorted out.

1973 710M

Looks like it's time to sell my 710M, hopefully I can get another one someday. I figured I'd post it here first, to avoid the headache of Craigslist. Plus, I figure most folks looking here don't need all the details about a Pinz spelled out for them. It's a basic '73 710M, with the following: - It h...

Re: Popping/backfiring on deceleration - need a rebuild?

Thoughts on the "oil being drawn into the carbs"? That's a very simple statement. What does he mean by that? The crankcase breather feeds into the intake air; oils and fumes can condense on the carbs. These carbs tend to get ugly dirty, or at least uglier than other carbs on other vehicle...
