Re: Popping/backfiring on deceleration - need a rebuild?

Thoughts on the "oil being drawn into the carbs"? Glad its not what's causing the popping / detonation, but does it need attention?

Re: Popping/backfiring on deceleration - need a rebuild?

Thanks Jim. That seems much more reasonable and likely to me. I did have the exhaust replaced not too long ago, but maybe it wasn't done right. I'll have it re-done. I appreciate the response.

Popping/backfiring on deceleration - need a rebuild?

My '73 710M has been popping / backfiring pretty loudly on deceleration. I recently installed the SSI, which helped some stumble on acceleration, but didn't really change the deceleration issue. It seems to run fine under power, but I now tend to not downshift anymore, to avoid the loud popping. I h...

Re: SAV Swiss Style LED Taillights

That square metal tab used to be crimped to the ground wire for the tail lights. The wire probably broke off at some point from corrosion, etc. and is now connected to the crimp ring terminal that is on the bolt. I suggest giving this area a good wire brushing or similar to improve the ground for y...

Re: SAV Swiss Style LED Taillights

Ok, I knocked what looked like solder off the bolt head and was able to pry the little metal cylinder away from it. Here's what it is, not sure why.

Re: SAV Swiss Style LED Taillights

I bought a set, and when I tried to remove the stock tail lights, I hit a stumbling block. There is a metal block soldered or welded to one of the bolts holding in the driver's side light. I can't get a wrench on the bolt head. Has anyone run into this? Should I just try to knock it off? http://i841...

Re: exhaust question.....

Dennis (@ LinDen) put a basic Turbo muffler on mine, and replaced the slip joints with mesh flex pipe. Runs better, a little quicker-revving, but noisier. Sounds like a teenager's Honda. It's fine with me, but the wife finds it annoying. Foam earplugs are cheap, :P

Re: trying to convince my wife that a Pinz is a good purchas

As I was gearing up to get mine, my wife would roll her eyes and ask "why do you need that?". When I got it home, I took my wife to a big empty parking lot and convinced her to drive it. After about ten minutes of her driving over (and demolishing) multiple huge piles of snow, she was beam...

Re: 1973 Pinzgauer for sale

I had the privilege of checking out this rig when Morris was kind enough to help introduce me to Pinzgauers. He's being way too modest in the (lack of) description of this fine vehicle. It is so beautifully cared for and tricked out with some of the most clever improvements I've seen. This is gonna ...

Re: Exhaust Flex Pipe

Just received my new flex pipe kit from SAV. Will attempt to install tomorrow as it is supposed to be a lovely day here in Denver, perfect for working on old vehicles. I'll use the pinz as a shade tree and hopefully stay cool under there. Probably not going to replace the gaskets at the manifold, j...
