Re: Alternator field, pos or neg

Does any knowledgeable gentleman know if the pinz alternator has a negative or positive field? I have a test result, but want a second opinion. I don't know if it is grounded and the regulator adjusts the positive current or if it is held to +24V and the regulator pulls the other end to ground (thi...

Re: Alternator field, pos or neg

The alternator field is positive! If anyone was holding their breath.

Re: Alternator field, pos or neg

Some will scoff, but I bought an aftermarket regulator. Got tired of fussing with batteries, and when my regulator started kicking out 48v (lucky my volt meters were there!) thought I'd try a three-stage regulator to keep those batteries tip-top and long term. Just have to figure out how to hook the...

Re: Need an ignition noise suppresor

im familiar with the applicability (and crutchfield link) when it comes to 12v systems. How do the amperage/wattage ratings change when doubling the voltage? It can be complicated depending on the device that is consuming the power. Passive devices, like resistors (heaters, simple RC filters (also ...

Re: Need an ignition noise suppresor

I'm not an expert on the subject by any means. But it could be from two sources: electro magnetic field from the plug wires, or backfeeding from the coil onto the supply. Batteries tend to act as a capacitor and should absorb most noise on the supply side, as long as the wiring to the ignition and r...

Re: Thermal Cooking an Epoch-Making Cooking Concept

Miles, this is pretty interesting; I've never seen one, nor have I ever heard of this. Sounds like something that would be great for work! I have to travel for work in the fall and winter to very cold places at high altitudes usually for 10-15 hours a day. Cold sandwitches and coffee get pretty old....

Yeah, what is your research and what crazy places are you going? Need a convoy? Don't have to answer that; I'm hijacking.

Re: Can you help me source an intercom system?

I'm in the market also and I appreciate your post. I also can't justify 4 $150 headsets and a $300 base. That flyhawk unit with some of the racing headsets suggested by Edzz fit me about right. But doesn't look like they are compatible. Maybe there's an adapter? I'll look into that. Sent from my iPh...

Re: Thank you....

Just to piggy back on this thread: indispensable. Donations all around! I just read about a mistake I was making when checking my gearbox (transmission) oil that could have cost dearly. If you just take off the level spill plug to dip in a finger, you'll get a little 2-oz "blurb" of oil ou...
