The diff lock coming on would not cause the symptoms you described of it locking up on the motorway. I suspect there is something more going on such as failed bearings. Draining the diff is the first step. Hopefully its something like the spider gears locked up. Still requires pulling the front diff...

I like the front <Transit> wheels more in the pic. The rears <Sprinter> almost look fragile with the amount of holes it has. I know they aren't but it just feels that way at a glance. So which wheels do you like the look of better? Hard for me to say with the different colors - I originally thought the sprinter wheels were the best looking (especially with the PUCH center caps) but the transit wheels look great too - the wider bolt pattern looks right on the air cooled pinz to me...
