24V to 12V Converter - Lifespan?

I have a 24V to 12V converter and it's been acting up. Sometimes when I start/run the truck, my 12v system is not working. I know this because it runs my RPM gauge and some accessories in the cab. This does not happen all the time and will usually resolve itself if I pull out the blade fuse (of the ...

Re: Irreverently Brilliant, or Just Plain Sacriligious?

Love it!

Not sure I have the $$ to do it in that car but I loved driving my audi off road like that when I lived in Oregon.

Exactly what happens with excessive regulation. People and businesses vote with their feet.

Re: Passenger low beam won't work

Check your grounding points. I have found most my issues with electrics were faulty or non existent grounds.

Re: 80w90 gear oil okay?

Biggest problem with redline is that it is hard to source locally, you gotta wait for delivery which is never what I like to do. Other than that, it is a great product, worth every penny. Use it in the transmission. Don't be afraid of replacing the seal where the shifter enters the transmission, gre...

Re: Anyone have experience with Dorotheum Auction House?

You might want to look into your local DMV process to get an imported foreign vehicle registered and titled stateside. That process alone would convince me to buy one stateside. I think you have to take this all into account and you will see there are some deals to be had stateside, especially if yo...

We all seem to be pretty spread out, do a search though, I remember a couple of people around the Houston area.

Re: Rear diff light won't come on

Power bleeder is the way to go. Use it for the pinz and my bikes.

Make sure the rubber pieces (elbows and Tees) under the levers are okay and not cracked, this was the first thing I had to replace when I got my truck.

Re: Tow pipe?

That's what scares me about it, could you imagine something locking up or breaking off in a hub and you're just sitting up in the tow vehicle rocking out to the stereo?

I would hope you could hear/feel it if you were driving the pinz and do something about it, like stop.

Re: Tow pipe?

Yep, simple enough, just use someone good for the fabrication. If you look closely, where the pin sits is shaped so that it kind of locks in there, like the one on the bumper. Honestly, if you can do diesel conversions, you might have a future in that. I know I would be interested in seeing a new po...

Re: Tow pipe?

Okay, as promised. This is how my truck's PO did it. It's a pretty sweet set up, sits just off the bumper and has some rubber pads that cushion between it and the bumper. Has a receptacle for a square hitch as well. The two tow bars rotate at their attachments, so slight differences in bumper height...

Re: Tow pipe?

I have a flat tow setup that came with my truck. I have never used it before, but is not a bad setup. The guy made a mount that is basically a large bar that sits just off the bumper, but mounts into the pin set up. He then would attach the tow bars (2) to that creating a triangle type mount. Nothin...

Re: 24v fuel pump and regulator

I should say, BTW, great looking modification and write up. I am glad to know that the truck runs good on this set up, I will probably be picking your brain about this in the future. I think this is getting on the "to do list" just maybe not the "to do tomorrow list" And that shi...
