712M Air Conditioning
Once again, our military establishment has made it possible to buy very very expensive gear at great prices and due to our 24 system, not everyone can use them. So, low EBAY bids equals Pinz parts. When IED's started taking out our soldiers in Humvees, the army started up-armoring them with thick pl...

712 Cab Hard Top
I wasn't able to get a hard top from Scott, so I made one myself. I liked the feeling of going top-less so I integrated some sailboat hatches into it. I looks a little like having two "K" hatches but they are glass and have black-out and mosquito screen options that pop in. I can open them...

Re: MRAP 24 volt Warn winch
"Jimm", that's a nice setup. I evaluated that design. I only elected to go the direct route to avoid all the super-structure required. Personal preference. I believe the airflow is restricted to the amount of volume the fan can propel through the engine plenum. The intake surface area expo...

Re: MRAP 24 volt Warn winch
"Vince", point taken about removing the top of the "window". I agree, having that much access to the rope is great. After a finite element analysis of an off angle pull, (20 degrees), I detected differential deformation of the winch body without reinforcement of the front face. R...

Re: Overdrive (again)
It has been working flawlessly. Still, when I hit that red button and the truck calms down and almost shoots forward while entering the freeway, I have to grin. I guess it hits the right torque band when the RPMs drop back down, because I swear it feels like a turbo boost.

Re: MRAP 24 volt Warn winch
I'll mount the Hawse lower. Those holes are the front winch mounting holes that I will use as well. These winches have front, bottom and rear mounts. When the 12" Hawse comes in I'll tap some holes at the appropriate height.

Geneva, that's where the mounting holes are on these winches.

MRAP 24 volt Warn winch
These excellent winches are becoming available on Ebay and other sources for around $750. They are Warn's "severe duty" fully potted 24 volt, 18,000 pound winches supplied to the army (at an ridiculous price I'm sure) for their $500,000 9 ton MRAP vehicle. The non-potted, no current over-l...

Re: Tuff River Tops - Infomation Request
Another suggestion to those ordering the Tuff River Top. Ask Ray to sew a third strap centered on the top of the window openings. When the windows are rolled up, they sag in the middle. I have to roll up 1/2 pvc pipe to keep them from sagging.

Re: Are there 2 types of drive-shafts? Or maybe after marke
I'm guessing here, that the drive shaft has been removed/replaced at some point. Those don't look like the stock nuts on the flange bolts.

To those with factory door locks
For those with factory Pinz door locks, my experience may save you a real problem if it occurs in the field. There is a screw on the end on the tumbler mechanism that attaches an aluminum cam. This little screw, complete with its lock washer, has a tendency to loosen. If it does, the cam slips from ...

Urgent gasket question-windshield
I'm trying to seal up the bottom of the windshield frame to the body. Which way does the new white gasket go? On the P shaped gasket, does the bead install inside or outside of the cab? It seams on the outside, it would collect moisture and contribute to rusting the frame. The original was so deteri...

Re: Our first Pinz 710M
The only thing I have to add is that Hagerty Insurance is for classic cars being used in shows and parades (their words not mine). They specifically restrict the use of the vehicle for on-road use to and from these types of activities. If you suffer a loss while off-paved road, camping (the things w...
