Re: How High Have You Driven Your Pinz?

Back when I was running carbs I had a chance to drive to the University of California Barcroft Research station at 12,470 feet. There was a noticeable reduction in power. The worst affect was having to crank the engine much longer than normal to get it to start. This happened other times at high alt...

Re: Pinz on dyno

Well now I don't feel so bad. When I had my 710M on the dyno it came up with 58 or 59 hp at the rear wheels. That's with a 2.6l engine (92mm X 92mm), high compression pistons (relatively speaking), Beck-LaGuardia EFI, and a stock cam. Unfortunately their printer was down that day so I didn't get the...

Re: rub rails

The rub rails and door uppers are Tiger Drylac Sierra Tan powder coat. The front bumper is painted with Krylon Flat Cammo Tan. They are pretty close in color with the Krylon being slightly darker. Its hard to see unless they are right next to each other. I also did the dash and locker console in the...

Re: rub rails

I picked up the tubular steel rub rails from the power coater today that Andre Swanson made for some months ago. I think they came out pretty well. I found that they actually make it easier to get in and out despite having to go over them. They give you something to grab on to. Now the next big proj...

Re: Our first Pinz 710M

Congratulations on the new Pinzgauer! I've had mine for about 7 years now and enjoy it very much. Beware using it for weekend errands. It's not unusual to get caught in parking lots for 20 minutes at a time answering questions from people who walk up asking about it. 8) I'm surprised that AAA of AZ ...

Re: How to best activate my 4x4?

I second airing down in sand. I'm running Truxux MT 255/85 16 tires on stock rims and generally never run them below 18PSI. I've found that running through fairly level sand such as in washes or at the edges of dunes that having the truck in 4 WD (green level down) with the front axel locked (rightm...

Re: GauerGarage West Virginia

Pinzgauer diminutives Pinny - British English Penny - Australian English Pinzi - German Pinz - American English Gauer - U.S. Army I think I got these right. It comes from observation of the Pinzgauer lists over the years. I made connections with someone at work who was in the U.S. Army special force...

Re: Fat Fabrications Winter Fab Tour 2014

I got some steel pipe rub rails from Andre this weekend. Here is one mounted on Andre's truck http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee178/bbtehachapi/PinzgauerRubRails_zps5ed4bb03.jpg I can't wait to get them powder coated and mounted on my Pinzi. I hope that I never have to use them anything other tha...

Re: 12/8 So Cal

There is a big Toys for Tots event at Hungry Valley (Gorman) on Saturday (12/7). There are usually some vendor displays. The new Fuso chassis Sportsmobile and new XP tray back camper should be there to check out. It would be fun to have a few Pinzgauers show up. They usually do a trail run on Sunday...

Re: Looking for Canvas doners.

Andre, I have a cab top and cab rear tarp that I can bring to the Mogfest. What hardware do you need? Have you tried looking at places that supply hardware for leather horse tack? They seem to have most everything. I would be interested in a kit to rebuild my rear seats. Will you be bringing my rub ...

Custom Pinzgauer Cabinets

I have a set of custom cabinets for a Pinzgauer made by Warfield Offroad for sale. They originally cost $1200. I intended to use them for storage when taking the Pinzgauer on extended solo camping trips but my plans changed and I have a different rig for that. I now need the passenger seating in the...
