I'd hazard a guess that it's not a great idea. Too much downward force and you'll bend your tube chassis.

You've maybe sorted this now, but I've run a 12 volt warn winch direct off 24v for a while without trouble. It cost me nothing, which is why I did it. As I understand it, it is the motor speed that destroys them, so I always pulse the switch when not under load to keep the speed down. Once the load...

I think the crew box is a plus. Especially if you want to have function and comfort in a mild expedition vehicle.
