Re: Thinking of a Pinz

I would recommend trying to find insurance immediately, that's what was my biggest headache and took the longest. I was insulted when my own insurance company rep. actually laughed and said, "obviously we can't insure that, it's not even a private passenger vehicle", but I followed up with...

Re: Shipping package to US from Australia?

Contact a shipping agent in the nearest port if the parts are near the coast, they can arrange for it to share space in a partially filled shipping container and have it go by ship. It will take a longer time, but in my experience, shipping anything from overseas using any method can end up taking a...

Re: Convoy out to the Overland Expo from the Northeast.

If you end up taking I-40 West through Arkansas on your way out there, I can give you the inside info on great primitive camp-sites in Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri.

Re: 712 M model toy

I mail packages home from overseas sometimes and it's not unusual at all for it to take about a month and a half or so. I wouldn't be too worried yet.

Re: headlight selector switch s1,s2,s3 question

Actually, while experimenting with the blackout light circuit on my Pinz, I learned that the Swiss tail-lights have blackout lights built in so they function both ways. Basically all you need to get the blackout lights working is to add the front light if your Pinz is not equipped with one and it pl...

Re: New Member Intro

Speed demon!...the most I've pushed my Pinz is 45. I get scared of it exploding or something beyond that speed.

Re: New Member Intro

If LMTV seats fit, it would be kind of cool and a bit ironic since the LMTV is a truck design licensed from Steyr.

Re: CB antenna?

Personally, I think the best location for a CB antenna is the original center roof location. This is for two reasons; you can make a new mounting plate to affix to the roof location, therefore requiring no drilling or modification to the Pinz and also because it's in the ideal location for optimal t...

Re: New Member Intro

I remember seeing that on Ebay; as I recall, it looked as if it barely fit in your garage with the windshield folded down, it was huge. It has to be fun though.

Re: Another intro

That shackle on the back out to be big enough. I reckon you'll pull the back half of the truck off before that thing parts; better too much than not enough. Nice Pinz by the way.

I'd like to hear your review because I would like one as well, I just can't find it in the budget right now. If the quality is good I'll eventually get one.

Re: 712 M model toy

I'm occasionally browsing Ebay Austria to hopefully find a good set of canvas door tops and I stumbled across an ebay seller who specializes in Pinz parts, he sells 1:35 scale Pinz models, including the 712. Here is the link address: http://www.ebay.at/itm/Steyr-Puch-Pinzgauer-Modell-1-35-NEU-OVP-71...

Re: Blackout light socket questions.

I guess I've begun to answer my own questions by poking around under the dash. I had the doghouse off to fix a heat exchanger hose today so I figured it would be a good time to look under the dash since I had more room. It appears that the entire wiring harness for the blackout light is there. #7 br...
