Re: Split Tailgate Latch

With a latch striker installed, there should be no rattling whatsoever; my doors latch up snug and tight with no issues whatsoever. I actually prefer them and they are great for loading and unloading camping gear from the bed, the only issue is that you need to find an accessible place to keep your ...

Re: Split Tailgate Latch

Actually, the Rapier doors were never installed by SDP, they were retrofitted later by another Swiss company; all Rapier trucks started life as a 712 M. There actually never was a strike hole, or any other holes drilled in the truck to mount the missile racks. All the racks were mounted using the ex...

Re: Split Tailgate Latch

Those are the Rapier doors; I have the same. They actually latch into a lip on the missile storage racks that were originally installed in the rear of the truck. You will have to make a simple latch and attach it to the bed of the truck to have the doors secure properly. I made one in about 15 minut...

Re: Allow me to introduce myself...

The very first thing I would do is to change all the fluids in everything from the Engine, transmission, diffs, Hubs, brakes, to the hydraulics for the lockers. In addition to that, for your intended purpose, I'd recommend a winch and plenty of rigging as well as hand tools like a saw and axe, etc. ...

Re: Would you rent your pinzgauer?

If we were talking about renting out something like an antique sedan, yes, but a Pinz, no way; I can just see every single person who rents it abusing it out of ignorance. The care required for a Pinz is beyond what a renter would be willing to put into it in my opinion. This is not to mention that ...

Re: WTB: 1980's Civilian G-Wagen

So anyway, I found a G that was just what I wanted and actually, it's the second link Haf-E posted to one on Ebay. I had been watching it for a while and I finally came to the realization that I'm just not going to find what I want within 500 miles, so I pulled the trigger on it. The G really does l...

Re: trade aftermarket front seats for original

I have an extra set of stock front seats, but have no need to trade for aftermarket ones. I may consider other trade or cash.

Re: WTB: 1980's Civilian G-Wagen

That's nice; I was considering a short wheelbase rag-top, but I need a hard top for what I intend to use it for. I've actually seen a few configured like that, but this one seems to have a bit larger than typical tire size.

Re: Mission Main Street Grant and the CentAr Pinz

Thanks! I need 250 votes to be eligible for the grant. I wouldn't have applied if I hadn't noticed that a great cafe just up the street from me was one of last years recipients; I was rather surprised so I figured why not?

Re: WTB: 1980's Civilian G-Wagen

Vince, I'm planning to go look at one next week, can you give me a quick rundown of what to look for and where? I'm not familiar with G's so I'll probably only notice the superficial things obvious to the untrained eye.

Thanks.

WTB: 1980's Civilian G-Wagen

I'm in the market for an older G-Wagen. I prefer standard transmission with hard top and four-doors, one before they added all the silly looking plastic trim. One equipped with A/C would be great. I'm primarily just looking for something that happens to be within about 500 miles of Little Rock, Arka...

That one with the roof rack and camping gear was in Hemmings about two weeks ago, but I think it sold.

Re: Unimog and Mil. Gwagen in Ca.

They have been regularly posting various G's for sale on the Hemming Motor news website. I've been considering a G, so I've already seen about three online for sale by them. I like that these variants are diesel, also do not have the full upper door frame and have the folding windshield, unlike the ...
