Re: Split axle boots wanted / one piece boots for sale or tr

Thanks for all the thoughts. I did come across Jim's how to the other day. They'll be used to protect against low velocity (:)) debris from normal road use and sand (pinz is at the beach and may occasionally go on it, though I am terrified of mixing pinz and anything remotely salty) so I'm not as co...

Split axle boots wanted / one piece boots for sale or trade

I've got 6 solid (no split) axle boots that came with my 712. Probably a low chance they get put on any time soon so I've decided to put on split boots instead. They are brand new with no clamps. I'd either sell them ($50 each? Will sell only 4) or trade them for other new split boots. I'd also just...

Re: Transmission Access Panel Seal

Now that I think about it, after seeing videos of folks playing "submarine captain" in the pinz, these seals are more about keeping water from coming up from below than coming in from the bottom. That and preventing liquid from pooling on top of the differentials / transmission. Thanks for...

Transmission Access Panel Seal

Wondering if anyone has fab'd a seal for the transmission access panel (part 7111610902/55) or the cover floor filler hole (part 7111610542/94)? SAV is sold out of the seal for the transmission panel and the seal for the cover floor filler hole seems to be not available. Any material recommendations...

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off

Also - I know the ones referred to here are from Scott at EI - are they same as what they are currently selling, or are the new after markets different. Thanks again

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off

All fair points. I see that EI and Swiss army trucks both carry an aftermarket 'euro' muffler. Are those the same as the ones referred to here?

I was looking for thoughts on the install and any pointers on the process.

Thanks

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off

Thinking about installing either one of these or OEM... thoughts either way? if they are materially the same (difference seems to be the sound) i'd rather go with the aftermarket and spare the pennies for something else on the pinz... Also - never done a muffler but have been doing good amount of re...

Re: Split Tailgate Latch

Nice, thanks for all the great feedback and ideas. That's a great looking strike plate you made there centar712. No missile racks for me unfortunately... I guess I'll make a strike. You're right, I do recall seeing 'hesso' on the doors. The latch on the door looks to be of a slightly different build...

Re: Split Tailgate Latch

Thanks - realized i commmited a major faux pas - this was my first post and i didn't share anything to make it worth everyone's while! the truck is a 1976 712M - its my first pinz, i've wanted one for about 10 years now. It's overall in really good condition (i think) and i have spent the last few w...

Split Tailgate Latch

Hi all - have a 712M with a split tailgate/ barndoor tailgate. Part of the latching mechanism is a vertical pole that slides up and down when closing the door. I feel like there should be a receiver for the pole in the bed of the truck, but see no evidence, and i can't find any mention on this forum...
