Engine Cover

I'd be interested if anyone has a good solution to repairing/replacing the engine cover. Mine is still serviceable but it has a few chunks missing around the edges. I was thinking of using fiberglass to repair it to the best of my abilities and then having it recovered in material to match the top o...

CWR

Just today I received the rear portion of the new top I ordered from CWR almost a year ago to the day. I have to give a lot of credit to Ray at Tuff River Stuff for rectifying the situation with my order and fitting in the construction of the top during his busy season.

It seems to release reliably, just not as quickly as the old slave cylinder. From your responses this is not unusual so I'll just leave it but keep an eye out for any changes.

Thanks,

Sluggish 4x4 release

I finally got my Pinzi put back together after breaking my 4x4 slave cylinder over Memorial Day weekend. Everything seems to be working OK except that the 4x4 control take about 45 seconds to a minute to release when placed back into 2wd. The indicator light flickers some before it finally releases....

Tail Lights Again

I finally got around to installing my TD tail lights. The turn signals, running lights, and blackout lights all work. I still need to hook up the brake lights. My '72 710M appears to be missing the infamous orange wire. There are two running light circuits, black and gray. When I wired the lights, I...

Thanks for the NAPA part number for the crush washers. The guys behind the counter at my local NAPA store cringe every time I come in looking for Pinzgauer parts. If I can give them a part number from the SDP-Pinzgauer site exchange list it's OK. Otherwise, they have to dig through their shelf stock...

I may have just partially answered my own question. I removed the inspection/fill plug on the hub and it was accompanied by a healthy "CHUFF" sound not unlike an old hit or miss engine along with a spray of oil. I'd still like to know what to look for in case there may be a hub seal leak. ...

Hub Seal Leak Signs?

What are the tell tail signs of a hub seal leak? My 72 710M has been down for repairs/upgrades for the last month. Last weekend I noticed oil leaking from the right rear hub. It appears that it may be leaking from the drain plug. With the hot weather here it may have built up some pressure. I pulled...

At least I didn't have the usual problem of corroded door handle screws. The screws and upper door bolts were in great shape and came right out.

TD Tail Light Mounting?

All, While I have my truck down for maintenance and upgrades I wanted to mount a pair of TD tail light units. They only take two bolts but the flange on the left side where the tail light is mounted has an unused cup behind it and one of the TD tail light mounting bolts will come out inside the cup....

OEM Door Half Seal?

I removed my door uppers for the first time today and found that the seal between the upper and lower doors was made of what appears to be oil soaked burlap. Is this what was installed at the factory? It certainly explains the problem I've been having with oil streaks on the outside of the doors whe...

Off Road Suspension Seat?

Has anyone tried an off road suspension seat such as a Mastercraft, Beard, or RaceCraft in their Pinzgauer? Both Beard and RaceCraft have narrow seats which should fit if the seat is not too high and the fixed recline is OK.

It would be really cool to mount the engine by the crank shaft in the back and use a right angle drive with the block spinning around to providing cooling like a 1925 Julian. I fear that it would exactly be OSHA or NITSA approved though.

I normally do not use 1st for street driving but I do find it useful to put the transfer case in low when backing up in tight situations. The reverse gear seems to be a little on the high side.

David and Jim,

How about a session on retrofitting new seats or at least compiling a list of what seats folks have installed, how well they fit, and what modifications were necessary.
