Re: Mogfest 2013?

I plan to be there. I should actually have my Pinzgauer for the event for the first time in 3 years.

Re: Inaugural Mammoth Steyr Puch Treffen Sept. 22nd-25th 201

Unfortunately, it looks like the first annual Mammoth Treffen became the only annual Mammoth Treffen.

It would be a great local if someone wanted to revive it.

Re: That time of year California burning again

Jim,

I see from the news here that Idyllwild has been evacuated. I hope that everything goes OK for you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Re: Portable short wave radios.. who makes a decent one?

My portable short wave radios are getting pretty old but you may find them on eBay or elsewhere. My favorite is a Sony ICF-2010. It has great performance even with the built in antenna. It is hard on batteries though. The other is an ICom PCR-1000. This is a "black box" radio with no contr...

Re: Manifold Cooking

I remember my father occasionally putting lunch items on the car engine to heat up when I was a kid. He had stories of heating meals that way during WWII. One summer we drove a newly restored '52 Hudson Hornet across country. Being frugal as he was, most of our meals on long driving days were from c...

Manifold Cooking

I just saw this on Expedition Portal. I wonder if it will fit on a Pinzgauer? http://www.expeditionportal.com/equipment-testing/1651-review-the-hot-doggers-hotdogger-iv.html Along these lines, I always thought the OEM muffler should have included a small oven box for on trail cooking. It's certainly...

I'll cast another vote for Tapatalk. I use it when riding in my vanpool to keep up with a number of lists.

Speedometers?

The odometer display on my VDO speedometer started cutting out about 2 years ago. Now it very rarely shows the mileage. I'm about to get my 710M back on the road after a very long EFI upgrade. Since I just had the engine rebuilt by Jim L. before taking it down for the EFI upgrade I'd like to replace...

Jeep finally sees the light

Ran across this on the Internet today - http://jalopnik.com/5896703/jeep-mighty-fc-concept-this-is-awesome http://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/jeep/FC.html It's based on a stretched JK chassis. I suspect the stretch is to assure it doesn't do face plants when making a quick stop like the original fo...

Re: Fat Fab back in action.

Andre, It's good to see you're back in the fabrication business. It's too bad you're so far away now in case us folks in SoCal need anything new. :( Well, at least you're only 120 miles from the nearest In-N-Out Burger so for you it isn't like your completely removed from one of the better things in...

Re: Howdy, Folks! An introduction.

Cool idea to put a FlipPac on a Volvo. I have a FlipPac on an '04 Tacoma and really like it. I also like camping in my Pinzi 710M but it's really only set up for 1 where you could sleep 4 in the FlipPac plus its really nice to be able to stand up inside the rig.

Re: Max speed in 4WD??

When my 4X4 slave cylinder was sticking I had to drive my 710 about 50 miles home on mixed freeway and surface streets. It survived OK. I'm sure there are people out there with similar "war" stories. It goes to show the robustness of the Pinzgauer design but it certainly isn't something I'...
