Slave Cylinder

Hi All I just had my slave cylinder reonditioned and the guy in the shop was adamant that there needed to be a circlip in the groove at the end of the cylinder bore. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee169/SAMCANNING/P1000254.jpg I am sure there was not one in there when I took it to the shop and I...

Duhhh

Hi Jim You will have to excuse my ignorance I must admit I looked at the assembly and thought how the fxxk did the fluid get there but I thought oh well it must be. It looked and smelt like transmission fluid that is why I asked about the seals as I thought here we go for a major dissassembly job. I...

Thanks

Thanks Gents I have taken the slave cylinder off and I am going to find a brake shop tomorrow to repair it. There was also fluid in the dust boots like you said Jim. My truck has translucent boots so it is easy to see and there was quite a bit in there. I am a bit concerned about brake fluid being i...

Locker Light

Greetings All I got it working but I think I have a hydraulic leak in the rear locker slave cylinder. The light comes on when I pull the middle lever now but goes off after about 30 seconds. I guess this is being caused by a slow leak and the piston in the slave cylinder getting pushed back by the r...

Locker Light

Thanks Peter

Thanks for the advice.

I am going to give your suggestion a try today. It sounds like you think it is most likely an indicator fault rather than a fault with the locker itself.

I will let you know how I get on.

rear locker light

Greetings Gents

My rear locker light does not come on when the lever is pulled down. I have checked the bulb and it is ok. I have tried to see if the locker is working but it is a bit difficult on my own. Has anyone got any ideas?

Wont Start

Greetings Gents I have two Pinzgauers both have not really been used for six months and have been standing for 4. They both have exactly the same symptoms wont start). When turned over they fire for a couple of seconds but will not run or fire at all after that. They both started fine up to a month ...

Earth Wire

Hi All I had a problem with my truck dying at random and could not find a pattern to it. It turned out to be the thick braided earth strap that connects to the underside (out of view) of the 24V cut out switch behind the drivers seat. From memory it was a braided copper strap that had corroded to a ...

Top Down Design

With the Pinzgauer (and Haflinger), you've got to get your head around the fact that that they built "old school"...everything was done on drawing boards and not to a cost....No CAD component libraries from Borg or ZF or Dana or Delco, ASM, Fortuna etc etc, that engineers can use to "...

D Holder

Did you roll the front tyre off the rim when you were climbing that rock? The front tyre laying flat on the ground looks really skinny.

Wading

Greeting Gents A quick question about deep water. I have seen people cover their radiator grille (on lesser vehicles) with a tarp whan wading through deep water. This seems like a good idea on the pinz as surely getting a lot of water down the cooling tunnel would result in the water getting sprayed...

Wiper Motor Issues

Hi Gents I have had some wiper motor problems as well. It seems that when it is particularly humid here the wipers work ok at first but start to slow and then stop. When this happens they also park in the wrong place and I have to manually give them some encouragment and they will come to rest in th...
