Re: I may have a 4x4 "problem", she says.

If it comes as some kind of comfort, before even reading the text of your post, the first glance I had at the picture was processed by my brain as "Land Rover" as well, and the black and white picture hinted towards an older version... Then I saw more details, the keyboard and the title wi...

Thanks for the indirect updates. It makes 100% sense that work for paying customers takes precedence over other projects (which are made possible by income from paying customers)...

Re: A-10 Warthog and gun

Favorite plane since I was a kid, thanks for sharing!!! I always liked the unique "form follows function" design that completely separates it from the sleek fast jets. I only saw them with my own eyes on a few occasions: Fairford (England) air show in '91, flying around Tucson when visitin...

Correct, 6 lugs on the recent Sprinters... sorry I should have checked before posting.

The brochures I could download on both the Swiss and Austrian MB website seem to mention 16-inch wheels, with 235 65-16 being the typical tire size.

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

I use the Transit rims YC15-DE. They come from models 2000 to 2004. They require a different shape for the nuts Hey Hotzenplotz, I use the same rims, and I have fond memories of going over Google search results in my quest for "Flachbundradmuttern" ("flat-based wheel nuts") in t...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

Haf-e Being in Europe does not put all Pinzgauers under the same umbrella. Germany has different rules than Austria. We just need an engineering certificate fro an approved civil engineer, and things get possible. For Switzerland I would say possible with the right person submitting to the correct ...

"every day is arm day in the Pinz!" Your line is so true, although I never found it worth to install power steering (at least so far...). When there is a point where I need to turn the steering wheel a lot while stationary, I remember I am driving a 45-year old military truck and welcome ...

Re: Cool Russian Vehicles

Russia is mostly flat and humid, so they boast 1.8 million (444 million acres) square kilometers of wetlands / peatlands (straight from my google search: http://russia.wetlands.org/Home/WetlandsofRussia/tabid/608/language/en-US/Default.aspx). So lots of room for big-tired toys. Not counting the fact...

The pins and chain don't ring a bell, but the "bottomless cupholders" look like mounts that were in the back of Swiss Army 710Ks and were used to store the antenna bases (US designation for these antenna bases is MX-6707). There were two in the rear compartment, to be mounted on each of th...

Impressive job! Congratulations for designing and building a brake system that is both simple and effective, as well as being a clear improvement over stock.
I will follow closely if you decide to go ahead with selling this as a kit.

More "only from the Gulf states" (and I'm not talking about Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida...) than "only in Hollywood". I guess when there's another 3 in you neighborhood, you have to do something to stand out: a gold full-body wrap seems like a good way to d...

"MVDs"! or "Military Vehicle Delineators" in the proper jargon! I haven't seen them in a while, and a quick google search only returned links to "sold out" items... Maybe buying two rolls or sheets of reflective tape and assembling / cutting your own panels would be the...
